Zombie Inc Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

Hi there! Well, drinking beers, partying and watching horror/gore/zombie/slasher movies!

If we find some minutes between the DVD change, we try to write some dirty Death Metal and looking forward some shows, tours and festivals with Zombie Inc.!

2. How would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the new
album?

Hmm, we tried to embrace our own redux version of 90`s old-school Death Metal! I think we got the atmosphere, the feeling, the brutality and the arrangement of the songs of the early 90`s quite well! Just keep in mind that the earlier stuff wasn`t that high-speed than nowadays...it was far better!

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the new release explores?

The lyrical themes are about apocalyptic visions of a world, overloaded by infected Zombies. All in all its a concept album filled with guts, blood, cut out eyes, and mutilated organs and...ZOMBIES!

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?

The meaning of Zombie Inc. is the concept of telling stories of Zombies.

This is a whole band-concept!

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and
how would you describe your stage performance?

“A Dreadful Decease” is our debut album, we didn`t realize any show so far, but we definitely will play some festivals in 2012! In our visions, our stage performance looks really brutal, blood-spilling, gruesome...! sweet models will be hacked to pieces on stage; zombies will eat some lovely flesh!!! So, only people over 18 years will be allowed to enter the show... we will see...if our visions will come true;)

6. Do you have any touring plans for the new release?

Well, for sure, we try to concentrate on tours and festivals. Although, all of us live in Austria, except Tomasz, he lives in Germany, we are spread wide, so, there will be just a few single shows. A delayed release show is planned in November 2011 in Salzburg/Austria!

7. What is going on with the other projects these days?

Well, here are the bands I actually work with:

Disbelief est. 1990 (guitar & songwriter) Sludge-Death-Metal: There are lots of gigs coming next months and a headlining European tour this autumn. We work on a new Disbelief album! The new album will be released in 2012!

Thirdmoon est. 1994 (founder, guitar and vocals, main-songwriter) Melodic-Death-Dark-Metal: All songs are written already! Just need to find time to record the new shit! The new album will be in the typical style of Thirdmoon, combining aggression, melancholy and beautiful atmospheric acoustic guitar parts!

In Slumber est. 2003 (founder, vocals, main-songwriter) Melodic-Death-Metal: All songs are written already! Just need to find time to record the new shit! The new Album will be more aggressive but with more panzer-like groove! Watch out!

Eisblut est. 2000 (co-founder, guitar) Death-Gore-Metal : A new album was planned but reached out of order, I already composed 5 songs but I think Eisblut will be laid down dead! We will see!

GodHateCode est. 2007 (founder, guitar, main-songwriter) Death-Metal-Grind-Core: new album recordings finished already! Really brutal stuff! Watch out for more news coming soon!

8. On a worldwide level how has your music been received by death metal
fans?

Ha, this is individual, but all people who talk to us personally and via facebook and so on, say that they really like this fucking album! It seems like we made something right! Although on the other hand, I am really happy to see, that there are a lot of people outside who love old-school rooted Death Metal as well! Thats cool, because they have a amazing music taste;)

9. What direction do you see the music heading into on future releases?

Well, there are a lot of thoughts concerning your question, but I think we will do the same as we did on this album! Intuitive and instinctive songwriting. But honestly, I think of going more brutal and more fast on the next Zombie Inc. album! But pssssst;)

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your
music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

The songwriting modus was inspired by Entombed, Carcass, Autopsy, Dismember, Obituary, Deicide, Edge of Sanity and Gorefest. To name just a few. It`s not a big deal, because all musicians of Zombie Inc. grew up with the 90`s Death Metal stuff.

I can only take my part, so, I am definitely don`t listen to any new musical styles nowadays.

I don`t have any new stuff at home!

11. Outside of music what are some of your interests?

Beside music I enjoy sharing time together with my amazing girlfriend Barbara. After this, there is no time left for other activities than music and all the things that comes with it!

12. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Thank you very much for your interest in Zombie Inc.! Support Death Metal! Support Zombie Inc.!

Cheers

Mincing Fury And The Guttural Clamour Of Queer Decay Interview

1.Can you update us with what is going on with the band these days? - Hi! Firstly thank you for your interest in MINCING FURY. We are currently working on some new material (already 4 brand new songs are almost done), drinking tons of beers, play some gigs around and preparing to the highlight of this year – Obscene Extreme Festival where we will play again after long 5 years! Also, in few weeks we will play special gig here in Brno as celebration of 10 years of our existence with some special guest like almost all ex-members of the band, so we will play special sets in different line-ups and play some really old songs there. and preparing to the hihre almost done), drinking tons of beers, play some gigs around and preparing to the hih

2.How would you describe the musical sound of the new album and how does it differ from previous releases? - New CD "Devolution" is different mainly because half of the CD is something like “the best of”, only with new sound and face, played by different members. . On Devolution CD you can find half of the song totally new (including CBT cover from their tribute CD) and second half are "remakes" of our own songs from all previous CD´s - so it’s really something like "best of". New songs from that CD are surely a bit different as MF is still in progress and we enjoy to play in a bit another way nowadays…anyway I’m pretty sure that our old fans will not be disappointed though. New CD have surely the best sound we have ever did during studio recordings.

3.How would you describe the lyrical concepts and topics the new release explores? - We have friend of us who is taking care about the most of the lyrics. The rest is on me and our second singer Milcunt, but do not look for any deep thoughts. We take some lyrics with the humor, esp. on last CD “Devolution” as the title song says – we are the guys of devolution…

( 4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name? No special meaning at all. 10 years ago (I was not at band that time), original members were not able to agreed to any of 3 titles so at the end all of them were connected together to one long name - stupid, right?

( 5. Your new release has a very powerful sounding production, are you satisfied with the way it turned out? - CD was completely recorded in close studio Davos (Vyskov, Czech Republic) with the big help of sound engineer Otyn (drummer from PIGSTY). We are very happy of the result, sound is really brutal, but still "readable“ (my personal opinion)

. 6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance? It’s hard to describe as you have to see it. I think this is the strongest side of the band – we have very emphatic and crazy stage show, we love big stages and are able to make a hell there. We run and jump all over there, lay on the floor, etc., I think our fans always enjoy seeing what we are doing on the stage. Our best shows were on Obscene Extreme festival (year 2006), Antitrend open air festival (years 2008, 2009 and 2010) and also couple of gigs in Germany (few years ago) and some local shows here in Czech Republic too (Brno, Olomouc and many others).

7.Do you have any touring plans for the new releases? - No big tour plans for this year. We would like to concentrate on composing of the new material and spreading our crazy show around in Czech Republic and eventually in some close countries too.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your new album by death metal and grindcore fans? - Few have received several feedbacks to our new CD, 90% of them were amazing, and the rest were average. None was totally disappointed so we are happy of this. We are looking for more responses and reviews shortly as our label mate Alex from United Guttural Records started promotion of our new CD just couple of months ago.

9.Are there any side projects besides this band, or is this a full time line-up? - All our members have other bands. Besides MF, drummer Zahradnik play in grind band ANAALIA, guitar player Motorak plays guitar in new technical deathcore band C.O.N. and sing in old-school death metal band DISGUSTING. Bass player Had play in rock band JAPKA and second singer is also singing in metal core band D.O.T.S.S.. I play drums in grind/HC band SPINELESS FUCKERS – btw. 2 ex-members of MF play there with me. Current line-up is together only about 3 years till now and I´m only the member who remember debut CD „Lamentations“ released in 2002.

10.What direction do you see the music heading into on future releases? - Hard to say. We will continue on song writing within the style of new songs from Devolution. It means mixing of many different styles together based on death metal, grind core and hard core with some blasting parts. We still would like to play brutal, fast, and catchy and the most important thing – we do not want to sound like copy of any other band and do not get boring any of our fans.

11.What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays? - We have no specific influences so far. We listen tons of bands around, but we do not want to sound like any other band. We have our own face that we like, that’s all. Me personally I nowadays listen to many various stuff, but I can name just a few of my faves during last months – I like last CD´s from bands like CEPHALIC CARNAGE, ION DISSONANCE, IWBO, ZUBROWSKA, EMMURE and many more.

12Outside of music, what are some of your interests? - My girlfriend, our 5 dogs, work, beer, sport (active and passive), sex (active), relaxing and parties with my friends…usual stuff as any other one

( 13. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview? - Many thanks for your interest in MF and for offering the place here. We really appreciate it. Also, we would like to thanx to all our fans worldwide who have supported us for last 10 years! As already mentioned in next few weeks we will celebrate 10 years of the MF existence and we hope MF will destroy stages some more years in the future. Check for the new CD “Devolution” and come to drink with us to our ANTITREND festival (complete line-up for this year will be shortly announced on: HYPERLINK "http://www.myspace.com/antitrendparties" http://www.myspace.com/antitrendparties ) which will take place near Brno (Czech Republic) on Saturday 18.6.2011. Take care and cheeeeeers!

Mincing Fury And Guttural Clamour Of Queer Decay/Devolution/United Gutteral Records/2010 CD Review

Mincing Fury And Guttural Clamour Of Queer Decay are a band ftom the Chezch Republic that plays a very experimental form of grindcore and this is a review of their 2010 album "Devolution" which was released by United Gutteral Records.

Drums range from midpaced to fast drumming with some brutal blast beats being through in at times, while the violin in the intro has a very tragic feel to it, as for the bass playing has a very powerful tone that comes out sounding really strong at times.

Rhythm guitars range from midpaced to fast riffing that is mostly grindcore but you can hear some deathcore and hardcore punk influences, and there are little to no guitar solos or leads present on this recording, and on a couple of songs is a short use of hip hop tyle record scratching.

Vocals cover many different styles with some deep death metal growls, high pitched grindcore screams mixed in with alot of samples before the songs, pig squels, and some hardcore style yelling, while the lyrics cover weirdness and violence, as for the production it has a very powerful and professional feel to it.

In my opinion Mincing Fury And Guttural Clamour Of Queer Decay are a very original sounding grindcore act that mixes in deathcore inflences, and if you are looking for a band that hybrids the two genres together, you should check out this band. RECEMMONDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Blind" "Drunken Mara" "Doctor From Mountains" and "Seas Of Weakness". RECEMMONDED BUY.

Waking The Cadaver Interview

Don Campan - Vocals: Replying

1. Can you update us with what is going on with the band these days?

- We are touring around the world this year pumping our second release coming out August 10, 2010 (Beyond Cops. Beyond God.) We are seeing a tremendous amount of fans (from all demographics/"scenes") come out to pack our shows, and give us a huge positive response on our new material and our killer live performance.

2. What is the meaning behind the band's name?

- The music is so heavy and so insane, that it can wake up the dead ...is that what ya wanted to hear..lol....

3. How would you describe your musical sound?

- Our sound is very original. Our fans and even the haters, since day one, knew that we were bringing a new innovative sound to metal right away. We have no problem pushing the envelope in what we do and many worldwide know that we have paved the way for many other bands as well. Which is a huge compliment and accomplishment. We invented slamming gore groove, and we will continue to pump out some of the most killer ear candy you have ever herd come from a NJ metal band. Our music is killer and bad ass.

4. How would you describe the lyrical content of the music?

- This epic CD, Beyond Cops. Beyond God., is a themed CD in which Satan is on a killing spree, letting you know how much control he has over everyone and how he displays it upon revenge. I kept the lyrics about punishment, getting away with murder, explaining/describing the power of Satan, how cool it is to get high on death and the results of violence when showing disrespect. The lyrics are almost like describing a video game such as Grand Theft Auto or something like that. It's fun to read the lyrics and listen to the music as you imagine the killings happen.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

- Deathfeast Open Air, New England Hardcore-Metal Fest, NJ Death Fest, Hostile City Death Fest (coming up), the list is too long... pretty much EVERY SHOW we play around the world is a blast because we have a blast doing what we do and our fans recognize that and they feed off that. Our stage performance is filled with high intense energy that really shows masculinity, verbal assault and you can feel the music just blast you apart in the pit. Many get injured during our set, its fucking great.

6. What are the touring plans for the future?

- We have a killer tour set up in November 2010 with Napalm Death. This is like dream come true for us. They are one of our biggest influences and damn near our favorite band of all time next to Slayer and Cannibal Corpse of course. We like to tour as much as we can when we can. We are NOT a rich-bitch little 16 year old band that gets the way paved for them with money from mommy daddy to make it big. We really would like to tour in Japan, Australia, Mexico, Indonesia and many other places..we will see what is in store for us once the new CD hits stores worldwide and blows the fuck up.

7. Currently you are signed to Candlelight Records how would you describe the support that the label has giving you so far?

- Wrong. We signed to Siege of Amida Records (UK) and we have Candlelight Records here in the states for distribution. As for support, they both have been putting there best foot forward and I know they are gonna push as hard as we are to make the CD pop off and get all the PR it deserves.

8. What direction do you see the music heading into on future releases?

- Well, if you have herd the latest material, you will hear where we are already headed towards. We have come a long way since 2006. We are always trying to bring in a more influences of all of ours into the writing and then sculpting that into our sound known as slamming gore groove. We have a lot of great surprises for all our fans in the new CD and we know once you pop this CD in your player, you will understand that we are not fuckin' around.

9. How has the newer material been received so far by extreme music fans worldwide?

- Just as we expected. They can't get enough and they always want more. Our fans are some of the most dedicated fans I have ever seen. We have an army of waking the cadaver fans worldwide that know that we are the real deal and that we will always bring the pain.

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and what are you listening to nowadays?

- We are really old school metal heads at heart that are not afraid to rock out to the classic 80's hair-metal bands too.. and we are also really big hardcore fans as well..so we mix it up and bring all that is unholy to the table when writing our shits.

11. What are some of your interests outside of music?

- My interests are running my graphic design business (Boundless Ink LLC.), artwork, surfing, smoking buds, drinking buds, being funny.. we all stay active working our jobs trying to make that almighty dollar to get back on the road and play our insane music.

12. Any final words or thoughts?

- Thank you to all our fans around the world for all their support!! Listen to Waking the Cadaver everyday while getting high on death, visit www.boundlessink.com/inkshop , visit www.myspace.com/wakingthecadaver , the band is currently looking for sponsors from the big dogs, so "...realize there is no God.." and double-blast!

Trigger The Bloodshed/Dengenerate/Candlelight Records/2010 CD Review

Trigger The Bloodshed are a band from the U.K that plays a very brutal form of death/grind and this is a review of their 2010 album "Degenerate" which was released by Candlelight Records.

Drums are fast with alot of brutal blast beats and some midpaced drumming while the bass playing follows the riffs that are coming out of the guitars.

Rhythm guitars mix alot of very fast and brutal death/grind riffs together with some midpaced riffing while the lead guitars are very fast and brutal death metal guitar leads.

Vocals are a mixture of deep death metal growls and high pitched grindcore screams while the lyrics cover hateful type of themes, as for the production it has a very heavy and professional sound and all of the instruments and vocals have a very brutal sound to them.

In my opinion Trigger The Bloodshed are a very good technical death/grind band that should appeal to all fans of this genre. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "A Vision Showing Nothing" "Hollow Prophecy" "Dead Vein" and "Whited Sepulcher". RECOMMENDED BUY.

Illdisposed/There Is Light(But It's Not For Me)Massacre Records/2011 CD Review

Illdisposed are a band from Denmark that started out as a death metal band that has also been interviewed by this zine in the past but have added groove and thrash elements to the new album and this is a review of their 2011 album "There Is Light (But It's Not For Me) which was released by Massacre Records.

Drums range from midpaced to fast with some blast beats, while the keyboards bring an atmospheric and industrial element to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs theat follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitar.

Rhythm guitars range from midpaced to fast riffs that combine thrash, groove and death metal together with some melodies and this is not as death metal sounding as the previous releases that I have heard from the band and it sounds like they went for more of a death'n'roll sound with the new one, while the guitar solos are very melodic sounding guitar solos.

Vocals are a mixture of deep death metal growls and some thrash style screams, while the lyrics cover hateful themes, as for the production it has a very heavy and professional sound to it.

In my opinion while this is a good album from Illdisposed that grows on you over time some of thei long time fans might be dissapointed, but if you are looking for some good quality metal, you should check out this album. RECEMMONDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Our Worlds Betrayed" "Rape" and "Alone". RECEMMONDED BUY.

Burning Caskets Interview

Interview Questions done by Burning Caskets vocalist Korey Arnold

1. Can you tell us a little bit about the band for those that have never
 heard of you before?
 1. The beginning of Burning Caskets was myself and another member of an
old band I was in Rotting. We just got together the 2 of us to record some
songs on Pro Tools and upload them on Myspace for fun. The songs went over
pretty good so we decided to form an actual band.

2. How would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the new
album?
2. I think its a mix of our old school Death Metal influences but with a
twist of some newer stuff as well. I think people into Deicide or Vader
may like us as well as someone lets say into The Black Dahlia Murder as
well.

 3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the bband explores
 with the music?
 3. The end of religion is one of our main topics on the lyrics. Religion
breeds weakness.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
4. I am a huge fan of the band Cancer from the UK. On their release Death
Shall Rise they have a song called ''Burning Casket'' Well I borrowed it,
just threw an S on the end.

 5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
 5. Into our career so far we have only played a handful of shows. 10 to
exact. I think our first one is our most memorable. Sharing the Stage with
such awesome bands as Lividity, Disgust and horde of Worms was awesome for
our first show.

6. Do you have any touring plans for the new release?
6. Right now no just shows within the province. We are working on a new CD
as we speak actually and will be planning on doing some shows in the US
after that.

7. Currently you are unsinged are you looking for a label and if so what
kind of label do you feel that would be a perfect fit for your music?
7. To be honest we are happy being an indie band. If a label were to come
around for us, I'll be blunt I'd want someone paying for EVERYTHING, not
just slapping their record label logo on our CD and getting a percentage
of the sales. So yeah being unsigned is good for us for the time being.

8. On a worldwide level how has your music been recieved by death metal
 fans?
8. So far so good, as for any band in any genre you cannot please
everyone, but the reception of To Burn a False Prophet has been really
good.

 9. Are there any side projects besides this band or is this a full time line -up?
9. Our guitar player Mitch is in a band called Unscathed which is a
Melodic Heavy Metal project. I myself am in a Brutal Death Metal band band
called Rotting. We haven't done anything in several years but never
officially broke up either so hopefully something one day from that band
as well.

10. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
10. Heavier !! But not burp vocal try and out-brutal every other band
heavy. We already have some new stuff written and have been playing it
live. Been going over great. Lots of groovy shit to headbang to. The odd
slam riff as well but wont be ripping the ass out of that.

11/ What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music
and also what are you listening to nowadays?
11. What has influenced the band the most probably is 90s Death Metal
(Vader, Deicide, Sinister etc) but to be honest were really into stuff
like Motorhead, Testament, and Iron Maiden as well. We may not play the
same style as those last bands mentioned but we take the influence and
make it heavier. Myself lately been listening to tons of Iron Maiden,
Behemoth, Devourment, Hanzel und Gretyl, KMFDM, Bolt Thrower and
Hypocrisy.

 12. I have noticed on the new album you did a cover of a Megadeth song,
what was the decision behind the cover version?
12. I'd like to give a great back story to the reason we covered that song
but there really isn't one. When myself and the first guitar player
started the band we wanted to do a cover song. Basically flipped a quarter
for either that or Pain Killer by Judas Priest.

 13. I know that the band is Anti Christian but does Satanism or Occultism play a role in your music?
13. Satanism and the Occult I'll use in lyrics but at the end of the day
its all just imagery. I believe if you believe in Satan you have to
believe in god which I don't. Satan was made up to scare you into the
church. I absolutely hate religion and think the world would be much
better off without it. More people have died in the name of god then
anything!! If people using Satanism is gonna bring the christian church
down a notch then so be it.

 14. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
14. Well myself other then the band I occupy my time working on my website
and t-shirt store The Catacombs.

15. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
15. Thanks for the great review and interview. Stay sick and check out our
CD ''To Burn a False Prophet''.

Gorgy Interview

1. Can you tell us a little bit about the band for those that have never heard of you before?
Bobby: We're a five peice from Kentucky, USA. 2008 is when the band started. It was first just Kelly (Guitar) and Clint (Drums) jamming together after their old band Scars of Suffering split. They contacted Bobby (Vocals) and asked to do vocals. After a few practices we were really liking the direction of things and wanted to get a full line up going. So Bobby contacted long time friend, Jeremy (Guitar/Vocals). They were both in a band together at one time call Internal Malice and asked if he would be interested in joining. He learned the songs before coming out to practice and it just felt natural. We had a hard time finding a bassist as they are rare in the area. We recruited Clay which used to play in Scars of Suffering with Kelly and Clint to help record the album. Shortly after the album was done Clay decided to go his separate ways. We then contacted Chris (Bass). We all knew Chris for a long time as he was in a quite a few bands in the area. Bobby let him hear the record and Chris loved what he heard and wanted to be a part of what we call Gorgy.

2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new album?
Kelly: We have taken a classic approach to old school death grind. That would be a lot of our influence and added some young blood with Jeremy bringing a touch of the new tech grind to us.

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the music explores?
Kelly: Well we all write and, myself, Jeremy & Clint are very into gore and we are avid Satanist / Antichristian so we tend to combine elements of that. The first album touches a lot more on the straight forward gore aspects that we all adore. Taking all that is sacred for example I wrote a lot of Disgorge The Child and it is about a stepfather killing a stepchild out of rage against the mother.
Not to mention Bob comes up with awesome songs based off of classic and underground horror movies and a mild political agenda. He is the sickest vocalist I've had the privilage of working with.
Bobby:  Yea, I like to write about horror movies, and gore in general. For example, The track "Battered Bruised Raped and Torn" was inspired by one of my fav's "I spit on your grave". Other subjects I like to write are about raw aggression towards the women who whore their bodies and produce fucked up drug addicted kids with no remorse.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
Bobby: Taking the 2 words, Gore and Orgy then fusing them together. In definition meaning a group of people witnessing a act of violence with plenty of gore.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how
would you describe your stage performance?

Kelly: I would have to say my favorite to date would have to be Freeport, IL. That show really established us as a force to be reconed with and we earned a great and growing fan base as a result. In all honesty anything we do that is NYDM related always kicks ass. As for stage presence, we are fucking menacing.
Bobby: I think I would have to agree! That was a great show, very memorable.

6. Do you have any touring plans for the new release?
Kelly: Well we have been doing a series of festivals this year just to hit mass audiences. Being that this is our first album we thought it would be a good idea to spread the name far and wide with the most impact at one time. So we are doing shows that are spread out that cater to a wide audience. Hopfully we'll do a mini tour next year and as the fan base grows so will the touring.

7. When I saw your photo on Metal Archives you where jamming in front of a
trailer, did you ever run into problems with the rednecks that usually live
in that kind of enviroment?
Kelly: Lol, actually that was at a KYDM BBQ , umm no most neighbors were yelling turn it up. Later that night we did get the cops called on us during a very drunken 2nd set and the officer told me an elderly lady had called five times in a row and said she couldn't take the damned devils music anymore. Prior to doing stuff like that we warn people and even the local authorities. Luckily I was friends with the cop.

8. Currently you are singed to Horror Pain Gore Death Productions how did you
get in contact with the label and how would you describe the support that
they have given you so far?
Bobby: Well we made a list of the labels that we were interested in working with. Sent out press kits to them all. Started talking with Mike and he really liked what he heard and wanted to work with us. Mike has been great. He really loves metal and supports the bands on his label. We're very happy and proud to be on the roster of HPGD.

9. Are there any projects besdies this band or is this a full time line-up?
Kelly: Gorgy is certainly what gets our full attention but members of the band also have various side projects like Storming Heaven which is Satanic black metal, Hot Pocket which is tard grind, Whore Hammer which is crust grind. We are all solid with Gorgy and these are our just for fun projects and all consist of Gorgy members. Hell there is even a damned folk metal band I can't pronounce the fucking name of. We are just a bunch of die hard metal heads with a shit ton of influence and not enough time in the day to cover them all.
Bobby: Yea, me and Chris started Whorehammer a few years ago, that was a crusty/grind/jazz band it kinda dissipated for a while. We're looking to write some new songs for it just because it's a different outlet of stuff that dosen't fit with Gorgy.

10. On a worldwide level how has your music been recieved by death metal
fans?
Bobby: So far very positive.
Kelly: With great interest and compliments from the majority. There a few that we don't cater to and to them I say fuck off we didin't write this for you we wrote it because it's what we love. We are just fortunate enought that others like it as well.

11. What direction do you see the music heading into on future releases?
Kelly: Well considering the 2nd album is already mostly written, I can say faster, more technical, more evil and still embracing our old school roots with a few more tricks up our sleves. Jeremy and I will be trading solos more often and in general it is more of a combined effort vs me writing a lot of the riffs for the first album. God nor man stand a chance against us in the future.
Bobby: I'm also going to be experimenting with a lot of different vocal patterns on the next album. Adding Chris to the vocal assualt, along with Jeremy, it's going to a lot of fun. I'm also looking to branch out with my lyrical content to include more anti-religion/anti-political subjects. oh and fucking dead chicks.

12. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music
and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Kelly: For me I can say the same subjects and bands that influenced me years ago such as Napalm Death, Suffocation, Blood Duster, Morbid Angel. Though I am not sure how much they shine through in our material. As for bands I like now Abominant has slayed for years, Viraemia, Decrepit Birth, Nile owns all that is death metal and really the list is so vast I could right all day. I even take influence from bluegrass, jazz and off the wall shit.
Bobby: I've always been a fan of fast crust punk, grindcore/goregrind and traditional old school death metal. those are the elements that I love to have as a forground to work vocal patterns around. Changing octaves from one line to the next while keeping it flowwing.
Right now the five albums in my player as been the new Autopsy- Macabre Eternal, Waco Jesus-Receptive When Beaten, Gorgy- Birth of Damnation, Gravehill-Rites of the Pentagram, Avulsed-Nullo.

13. How would you describe the death metal scene in Kentucky?
Kelly: Sparse, but tight nit. We have Abominant KY Goat Metal legends, Created to Kill, Assisting Sorrow, Mangled Atrocity, Invoked just to name a few off the top of my head. All varied in style and long lasting bands. The scene is fairly well centered around the Louisville area as well. Us coming out of So. KY we are avoided like a plauge. Even local radio DJ's have called out the clubs to book us but have personally told me they fear us for some reason. We hope to keep it growing and evolving. I am even the President of the KY chapter of the NYDM so we do our best to help. There are a few fests like Mayhem in May and the newly added Louisville Deathfest that are adding to support, as well as Terry Harper which brings all the big shows to the Louisville area.

14. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
Kelly: I enjoy motorcylces, fire arms, movies, time with my kid. I read alot. I know most of my fellow band mates are gaming junkies. We all practice constanly on strengthening our livers with massive quantities of alcohol. Most of us are face book whores as well and promote the band often. Metal is so much a part of my existence I damn near revolve my life around it then crash during down time or continue to write and rehearse.
Bobby: Work, hang out with my kids, watch random documentaries on Netflix, play xbox, getting my dick sucked..often and mess with photoshop every now and then.

15. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
Kelly: Well, I just wanna say HEY YELL SAY TON, and uh that the music we play and support is never gonna die no matter how much all the trendy fuckers wish it would. All the kids with comb overs and thier sisters pants will eventually figure out where it all started and convert to the originators and quit focusing on rehashed bullshit with extra added breakdowns. But most of all thank you for taking an interest and hopfully we'll catch you on the road. Oh yeah fuck pit ninjas.

Bobby: I'd like to say thank you to anyone that reads this, checks out Gorgy, likes our album Birth Of Damnation, and supports underground metal. Thank you for the interview. Grind-the-fuck-on fuckers!!

Waking The Cadaver/Beyond Cops Beyond God/Candlelight Records/Siege Of Amida/2010 CD Review

Waking The Cadaver are a band from New Jersey that plays a mixture of death metal, gore metal, grind and hardcore and this is a review of their 2010 album "Beyond Cops Beyond God which was released as a joint effort between Candlelight Records and Siege Of Amida.

Drums cover some variety with some slow and midpaced drumming mixed in with alot of fast playing and brutal blasts, while the bass playing has a simple sound that follows the riffs that are coming out of the guitars.

Rhythm guitars mix some more slower hardcore style breakdowns with some more faster death/grind riffs while the lead guitars when they are utilized are very noisy sounding death metal guitar solos.

Vocals are mostly deep death metal screams mixed in with some high pitched grindcore screams and the ocassional pig squel, while the lyrics cover rape, gore and violence with a very hateful edge, as for the production it sounds very professional and all of the instruments have a very brutal sound to them.

In my opinion Waking The Cadaver are a very good band for this style of music and while I have not heard that much deathcore that sounds interesting this is still a good album that should appeal to fans of this genre and fans of death/grind.RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Reign Supreme" "Sadistic Tortures" and "Suffering Upon Revenge". RECOMMENDED BUY.

Calm Hatchery Interview

1. Can you give us an introduction to the band and tell us more about the band?

Huzar: The band was brought to life in 2002 in Bialystok by me (HUZAR - gt), IWANA (gt and vo) and RADAD (dr). At that time all of us played in a different band but we often met at gigs that our bands played together. We talked a lot about music, gear and somehow we decided we want to play together and that's how it started. After 6 months of playing we home-recorded our first demo. Later we got joined by GUNAR (vo) and got temporary support from MAAR (ba). In this lineup we played a few local gigs and assembled the whole material for "El-Alamein". In 2004 we entered the studio. Just before the session started we changed the vocalist, GHAEZ took in for GUNAR. After recording we got back to playing show and sent our our material in search of a label. Unfortunately misfortune stayed with the band. GHAEZ left out of lack of time, soon after IWAN did the same and after few other member rotations that didn't really change anything CALM HATCHERY got suspended. What's more I decided to return to my hometown - Slupsk (I just studied in Bialystok). While in Slupsk I kept receiving good reviews for "El-Alamein" and decided to keep the band alive. I found a guitarist and bassist (ZOMBI and HACEL) - but it was hard to find a good drummer and we played just as three. SZCZEPAN (vo) joined later. For a short time we had DYX (dr) playing with us but wasn't what we were looking for. In the meantime an invitation to ZAMCZYSKO FESTIVAL 2006 in Malbork came so I called RADAD and he agreed to play one show. When he arrived for a rehearsal we had such a good time that he decided to return to the band. He had to cross long distance for rehearsals but we continued this way. In 2006 we recorded a demo "THESE WHICH WERE". Back then we played a series of shows however in 2006 RADAD went to ENGLAND. Somehow we were managing to keep the band but decided that it won't work in the long run and RADAD ultimately left the band. We started to look for a new drummer and were able to find RADEK, drummer from TEHACE and that's the lineup we have today.

2. What are some of the imusical equipment or studios that you have used to create the sound of the new album?
Most of the guitar tracks were recorder using and LTD JH-600 but I also used Fender Heartfield. We tried a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier and Diezel Herbert amps and for this particular record Diezel turned out to sound better. Wieslawski brothers have this ability that they can match a tone and sound to a particular band. They do not follow just one working scheme. Everything takes shape during the recording which is great. The whole material was register in HERTZ studio known for recording bands like VADER and DECAPITATED. Wieslawski brothers also helped with last BEHEMOTH's album production. I'm not saying this for advertising but because they are splendid sound engineers and it was not a coincidence that the mentioned bands worked with them.

3. Where did you get the ideas or inspirations from to write the lyrics of the new album and how would you describe your lyrical content?

Ideas come from everywhere: dreams, read books, everyday life events, even from eating hallucinogenic mushrooms. Generally from the whole space around. I'm just a receiver that catches all those images and unfortunately has to write them down in words so that they do not disappear. The ones that appear in the mind and not in words are much deeper...

Some of the lyrics deal with human and his role in life, why do we exist?; about his confusion on the desert that today's civilization is and the hollowness of the material world that is just an illusion; about the truth, where does it lie and what is important for us living beings. There is also a historical theme about the extinction of the ancient civilizations that existed in peace with mother nature until a man eager for their wealth landed his foot on their country. The inspiration was Herman Cortez's expedition to conquer Mexico and exposing war's pointlessness using battle of Stalingrad's tragedy. There are also 2 songs of a totally imaginative lyrical content but still sticking to the ancient cultures theme and inspired by well known Lovecraft. However, the main theme of the album is human, his rise and fall.

4. Where did you come up with the idea for the band name Calm Hatchery?

Me and Iwan (first guitarist) came up with the name. We realize it is abstract, but we liked how it sounds and wanted to be deceitful towards the music style we perform.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

An unforgettable and definitely the best show was our GENERACJA 2010 FINAL performace in Koszalin as support act for VADER and NAPALM DEATH. It was after this show that Karol from SELFMADEGOD RECORDS got in touch with us. The gig was awesome, we had an opportunity to play in front of 2000 people and for a support act we received a very good response. Another show that I consider one of the best was our recent performance in Ireland. Total madness and no prisoners taken! We hope for more gigs like that.

6. Do you have any touring plans for the new album?

We are invited for DEFENSE FSTIVAL in Krakow for Ferbruary to play with bands like Asphyx, Lost soul, Paracide. For now this is the closest date we have planned but we hope the new album will enable us to play more shows. we are waiting for offers.

7. What is going on with the other projects these days?

Hacel is a guitarist in the band AGGRESSOR, Szczepan plays with with DEABHAR and THE BLACK THUNDER and Radek helps TEHACE. Zombi and me play only in CALM HATCHERY.

8. how have extreme death metal fans worldwide react to your music sound?

We have not played worldwide yet (hahaha!) but in the places we played so far people reacted very lively and spontaneously. Sometimes they didn't mosh at all just standing and listening to the music but sometimes they were totally crazy. To sum up people reacted in most diverse ways but with a positive attitude. No matter how they react we feel the energy we send them comes back in an even greater ammount which is our and the fans' energy combined. It is a wonderful feeling.

9. What direction would you like to take the band into on future releases?

I don't know yet, I don't plan music according to some blueprint but rather wait for some cosmic beam to inspire me or other members. I take a guitar and if I get an idea I record it. Music can't be like a factory product, let it flow freely. When we compose we never give it a thought if it should be fast or slow and if it sells good. We just do our best for the music to be as good as possible and make ourselves like it. We have a few new sketches that still need some work. As for future plans we would surely like to record a next album but when the right time comes. It is hard today to determine when exactly, perhaps in 2 years new material will be ready, time will show.

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music, and also what are you listening to nowadays?

We love NILE, DECAPITATED, MORBID ANGEL, HATE ETERNAL, BEHEMOTH and many other extreme bands. We do not try to hide our influences and if someone points out any similarities we do not deny it but rather take it as a compliment. We do not listen to Metal music only, personally I love dark ambient e.g. STEVE ROACH, SUSPENDED MEMORIES but also other music like OZRIC TENTACLES, jazzrock e.g. ALLAN HOLDSWORTH, BRENDAN PERRY, DEAD CAN DANCE, MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA, ALIO DIE and AMELIA CUNI, film music, classical music... the list could go on and on, haha, we are listening to anything that's worth it not bordering ourselves just within Metal.

11. Outside of music what are some of your interests?

I love to drink beer, haha! But seriously... I like reading books, listening to music, sometimes draw. I'm crazy about world war II army equipment and I like distant travels....it a shame one has to work everyday and there is not enough time for all this.

12. Any final words or thoughts before we close this interview?

Thank you for this interview, it was very nice talking to you. I am happy our band found a label and everything moved forward. I have always dreamed about it and strong faith in what you do gives results, we are an example for this. We are not making it big as a band but it does not matter. What is important is we are doing what we want to do and it makes us satisfied. Best regards to all the readers and all the people listening to independent music. You're definitely invited to give our album a listen!

Diskreet Interview

1. Can you introduce the band to our readers?

We're a Topeka, KS based Death Metal band that's been actively performing since 2003, founder and drummer Andy Taylor and guitarist Gerren Andres have been the core of this band from that period of time, while Stephen Babcock and myself have actively been in Diskreet since right around the release period of Infernal Rise. We've recently acquired a young, shredding guitarist from CO named Jake King.

2. How would you describe the musical style that you go for and how do you achieve yet?

We're all fans of Death Metal and have a particular fondness for Suffocation, Odious Mortem, Decapitated, Deeds of Flesh, and that style of the genre, but we've never made attempts to really 'emulate' bands that we're influenced by, and try to write Death Metal that we personally like and sound good to us. Many of us live by a writing style of "would we like this and regularly listen to it if it were written by someone else".

3. What are some of the lyric topics that the band likes to explore with the music?

Stephen, and to a lesser extent myself, wrote the lyrics to our new album - the themes really deal with the downfall of humanity, feel the crushing of the hoof on your throat and overthrowing the tyrannical powers that be - from the perspective of a post-apocalyptic future, but really they tend to more reflect on the state of current world affairs.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has done so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

We've ran some pretty successful tours over the last three years, particularly with Burning the Masses, Necrophagist, Brain Drill, our hometown friends Origin, and Oceano among others. When we're performing we just try to be aggressive; there doesn't need to be a lot to it when you're up there to us, just be honest - you see so much choreography and yeah, it looks cool and brings more of an overall performance, but it seems a little dishonest to us. So we just get up on stage, get pissed, and do what we feel like doing.

6. What are some of the touring plans for the future?

Right now we're currently on a long trek with Wretched, Antagonist, and The Breathing Process. We're working to pull in another short US run before the end of the year, and are also securing our first European tour in 3 years early 2011.

7. How has your music been received so far by death/grind fans worldwide?

It's a lot harder to be recognized today than it was a decade ago in underground music based on how much of an over-saturation of music there is, but despite that we've been received pretty well by people around the world, and we've made a lot of incredible friends on the road as well.

8. How would you describe your musical progress over the years and what direction do you see the music heading into on future releases?

When we released Infernal Rise, we've had a real play fast, play aggressive, riff-riff-riff sort of demeanor in our writing style; when we added Malcolm we were able to refine ourselves based on his need to creatively compose, rather than just write random shredding, and it's helped us to write more constructive 'songs'. While we believe in the notion of 'evolving', per se, we have somewhat of a core feeling to our sound that we don't want to stray away from, and I think Malcolm did a great job in helping make Engage the Mechanicality sound like an evolution from Infernal Rise.

9. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

As far as Diskreet generally, we all subscribe to a musical influence that includes the likes of Odious Mortem, Hate Eternal, Deeds of Flesh, Suffocation, a lot of older straight Death Metal. Everyone in this band listens to a lot of different music, which for some of us isn't primarily Death Metal. Gerren is currently jamming Al Green and Michael W. Smith, we deal with Jake jumping back and forth between George Strait and Decrepit Birth while we're driving between shows, Stephen is mostly listening to Hank III, Trolodyte and Shudder, lately I've been enjoying Outbreak, Transatlantic and my very good friends Vedera, and Andy hasn't been really shredding much new, just a lot of old death metal favorites, most of which I've already mentioned. We develop really odd playlists that gets on everyone's nerves, our merch guy only jams 80's faves and hip hop.

10. Are there any side projects besides Diskreet or is this a full time band?

For the bulk of us, Diskreet is our primary band, Jake originally comes from a couple death metal bands, "Carcinoma" and "Suppress the Delusion", back from where he's from that is probably more a primary band for him. I started an occasional side deal recently that I'm playing guitar and writing for called "Renouncer" that is more hardcore oriented, a bit of Cursed influence. Malcolm, who helped write Engage the Mechanicality, has a project called "A Loathing Requiem" that he just previously also released an independent album entitled "Psalms of Misanthropy" that is absolutely worth listening to!

11. Outside of music what are some of your interests?

Well, generally we're into spending time with family, being outdoors, watching movies, working out, going to shows, general things like that. We all have separate things we spend our time with, like some of us are into photography, arms, audio engineering, gaming, cars, and electronics - we really are all pretty separate people in a variety of ways when it's not coming down to just hanging out, writing music together, or going on tour.

12. Any final words or thoughts before we close this interview?

While you're out buying Engage the Mechanicality, go snag World in Decline and Beyond the Gate!

Diskreet/Engage The Mechanicality/Siege Of Amida/Candlelight Records/2010 CD Review

Diskreet are a band from Kansas that mixes technical death metal with grindcore and this is a review of their 2010 album "Engage The Mechanicality" which was released as a joint effort between Siege Of Amida and Candlelight Records.

Drums are mostly midpaced fast playing with alot of brutal blast beats, while the bass playing is all rhythm bass and follows the riffs that are coming out of the guitars.

Rhythm guitars are mostly midpaced to fast brutal technical death metal riffs that have some grindcore influences, while the lead guitars are brutal sounding technical death metal guitar solos that are very fast.

Vocals are mostly deep death metal growls mixed in with some high pitched grindcore screams, while the lyrics cover darkness, evil, and gore, as for the production it sounds very professional and all of the instruments and vocals have a brutal sound to them.

In my opinion Diskreet are a very talented and brutal technical death/grind band that should appeal to all fans of this genre. RECEMMONDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Fall Of Mankind" "Human Harvest" "Serpents Tongue" and "We Are Legion". RECEMMONDED BUY.

Hummangled Interview

1. Can you tell us a little bit about the band for those that have never heard of you before?

We are a death metal band from Italy born in 1995 but we have been "frozen in time" for a decade, and after passing over difficulties we are now to present our first full length "FRACTAL" which contains all the different aspects of our music.

2. How would you describe your musical sound?

Angry, tasty , impudent.

3. What is the meaning behind the band's name?

Our monicker was born from the words Human+Mangled, just to signify Humanity Mangled, a reminder of our human condition during and after life.

4. How would you describe the lyrical content of the music?

We like to write about different matters in our lyrics and we think that these should make sense together with the music and images we offer. Our songs usually cover the different aspects of life but specially focus on the personal and social aberrations, using splatter/gore stuff only as an acrid flavoring.

5. According to your myspace page, the band is only a studio project, do you ever plan on doing shows in the future?

Sure, we'll try to if possible, it's one of our desires to play our songs live.

6. On the Metal Archives page it said the band has been around since the 90's but the first full length just came out recently, why did it take so long?

A decade (1997-2006) is a quite long "pause to think" right ? well, the band disbanded for such long time, but when we decided (Goreds and Scurb) to start something again we wouldn't even expect to release our first full lenght in 2010. Let's say that during this pause we developed other forms of artistic communication while our "seeds" where rotting.

7. Are there any current side projects besides this band, if so who are they and what kind of music do they play?

Yes, they actually exist, but we can't reveal the secret now (laugh).

8. How would you describe your musical progress over the years and what direction do you see the music heading into on future releases/

We started in '90s with the idea to mix death-grind metal riffing and vocals with industrial rhytmics, to create an hybrid that would sound extremelly heavy and annihilating at the same time, but we recently moved towards a more classic sounding death metal trying to find the rotten roots of our first devotion to the genre. Nowadays we think that the overall death metal movement is loosing some of the original sense (no matter how technically skilled and fast it sounds) out of the "brutal melodic groovy" music it used to be at the beginning.

9. How have extreme death metal fans worldwide react to your musical style so far?

We are excited by the reactions received till now; (of course there's always somebody that don't appreciate your proposal but for now it's really quite an exception !)

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and what are you listening to nowadays?

We are really passionates of Death Metal (and music in general) before being musicians, so let's say that everything of the many records we listened since the end of eighties till today may have an influence on our music indirectly. But, on the other hand, all these make a mixture that can give a general precise feeling but not referable in any band in particular.

11. How would you describe the death metal scene in your home country of Italy?

Quite promising, even if we are not used to consider it as a "scene" yet. There are really kickass bands and it seems that they are starting to get the attention they deserve on the worldwide underground scene, specially the most brutal acts.

12. What are some of your interests outside of music?

Really too many to spend the rest of our life in lazyness. We'll rest after we trespass.

13. Any final words or thoughts?

See you all on the final massacre.

Humangled/Fractal/Abyss Records/2010 CD Review

Humangled are a band from Italy that plays a gory form of death metal with grindcore and thrash influences and this is a review of their 2010 album "Fractal" which was released by Abyss Records during the year of 2010.

Drums are mostly slow to midpaced with some fast playing and the ocassional blast beat, while the bass playing is all rhythm bass that follows the riffs that are coming out of the guitars and they sound very powerful at times.

Rhythm guitars are mostly fast death metal riffs that have some thrash influences mixed in with some slow heavy riffing being used at times, while the lead guitars are 90's era death metal sounding guitar solos mixed in with some progressive rock sounding leads.

Vocals are mostly deep death metal growls with some high pitched screams thrown in and on couple of the songs there are some clean vocals being used, while the lyrics cover flesh and tools, and personal cynic evaluations, as for the production it has a very heavy sound that makes the music sound very brutal.

In my opinion Humangled are a very good death metal, and if you are a fan of true death metal you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "From Empty Sockets" "Brutilize The Pedophile" "Liguidfire" and"As Individuality Fades". RECOMMENDED BUY.

Cardiac Arrest Interview

1. Can you update us with what is going on with the band these days?

ADAM: Well, our new album "Haven For the Insane" just came out earlier this month. We're about to gear up for the upcoming US Tour and several other fests/live shows. Other than that just continuously writing new material, that and just being pure delinquents!!!

JIM: As Adam mentioned, we begin the Campaign For Death Metal Purity 2010 tour with GRAVEHILL and HOD in barely a week. We’re really looking forward to that. Then, we hit the Central Illinois Metalfest and the Michigan Deathfest, before joining the final leg of the ENTHRONED/DESTROYER 666 tour with Pathology and ESTUARY. After that, we have a couple irons in the fire to close out the year’s live activities.

2. What is the meaning behind the band's name?

ADAM: Just plain heart failure.

3. How would you describe the lyrical content of the music?

ADAM: Everything that pretty much symbolizes pure horror. Crypt robbing, Murders, Zombies, Contamination, Cannibalism, and everything in between. To me that makes good lyrical content.

4. The new album came out on Ibex Moon Records, how has the support been from the label so far?

ADAM: It's been great, the new album is getting out there and getting pushed, I think the future looks pretty good!!!

JIM: I don’t think we could possibly be happier with any other label. Working with John and his staff is a pleasure: good communication, distribution, support, advertising… it’s a total package. I should mention that Clawhammer PR has been instrumental in our success on the label so far.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

ADAM: Our stage performance? Audible Mass Murder!!!!! Some great show memories I'd say would be when we played w/ Macabre in 2007. Each time we've played Central Illinois Metalfest was a great time too, also last winter we went out to Columbus, Ohio and played with Acheron and that was a really good show for us.

JIM: We try to intensify the songs we play live – there’s no point in going through the motions onstage. If people want to hear the CD, they have that option, so, we try our best to make the show an actual performance. Highlights for me were the LA Murderfest, our CIM appearances, and the Incantation/Acheron tours we did last year.

6. Are there any future plans to play Europe?

ADAM: Nothing set as of now, definitely a goal we would like to reach be it a tour or a festival.

JIM: It’s something that’s been discussed, but no offers are currently on the table. I suspect that will change in the next few months. If you’re a European fan, make your desire to see us known.

7. When I listen to your music, it sounds like it could of easily came out in the 90's which is a good thing, what is your opinion on these newer genres such as tech death or deathcore, I know that a lot of old school death metallers dislike these new genres?

ADAM: I personally don't care about any of the trends that plague the scene. Trying to go out of the way to be "fresh" or "original" to me just doesn't cut it. Oh well, most of them will die off and jump on the next other bandwagon.

Tom: Speaking for myself, I started getting into death metal in the late 80’s. I also formed my first serious band in the late 80’s and were involved in the underground through the early 90’s. This style was all I ever knew and what I enjoyed playing the most. There are far too many divisions now within the genre. Back then, there were not all these different styles of death metal. It was just death metal. Now there is a name for every style and fans of the different styles. There is too much separation in my opinion. As far as disliking the new genres, I wouldn’t really say that…I just don’t get it. Technical music never did anything for me. I appreciate the talent behind it, but if you can’t bang your head to it, and there is no hook, what is the point??

JIM: I’m not a fan of dividing music into subgenres in the first place. I mean, good music is good music. Generally speaking, I prefer older music, because that’s what I got hooked on in the first place. That said, I get into certain technical bands, like Origin, Blotted Science, and the like, but, my heart is with crust punk and grindcore.

8. Are there any side projects besides this band if so who are they and what kind of music do they play?

Tom: I have another full time band going since 1995 called Severed. Same type of music, although it has more of a punk edge to it. Think early Abscess and that is about right.

JIM: David and I have an industrial doom project called LaydyBug DeathCamp, with Paul from Morgue Supplier on guitar. I also play drums for Sallah, a blackened/death extreme thrash band.

9. What are some of the horror films that the band is into?

ADAM: I can go on forever on what I like a lot; mainly from the 1960s through 80s Lots of them from directors like Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci, H.G. Lewis, certain George Romero films, Mario Bava etc. I recently saw Rec 2 a month or so ago, and Goddamn that was a wicked film!!!!

Tom: I am a fan of 70’s and 80’s Italian horror the most. It's the same with American horror from the same time frame. My movie collection is huge and I’ve been into horror since I was a kid.

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced the music and what are you listening to nowadays?

ADAM: A lot of early 90s Death Metal like Dismember/Grave/Unleashed/Death/Morbid Angel, etc is what influences me. I've been listening to a whole lot of different "sub genres" in the metal world. Between whatever Death Metal that seems good to me, also just listened to Superchrist today. They're very Motorhead/NWOBHM, great stuff.

Tom: The same thing I have always listened to and have been influenced by: Autopsy, early Death, Slaughter, Post Mortem, Hellhammer/Frost, Repulsion, Venom, etc. As far as new stuff, someone really has to sell me on it or I have to know them to listen. There are so many bands out there now; it is hard to take it all in.

JIM: Napalm Death, Queen, Sinister, Death, Morbid Angel, Disrupt, Anthrax, early Entombed, Dismember, Crowbar, and Vince DiCola are my biggest influences.

11. What are some of your interests outside of music?

ADAM: To be honest, most of my interests involve anything music/Metal related. Other than that, just sitting back watching a good Horror Movie or anything in relation.

JIM: I like to dabble in video games, philosophy, video editing, and spend time with my loved ones. Pretty boring… no murder, but, some mayhem.

12. Any final words or thoughts?

ADAM: Thanks a lot for the interview and to whoever reads this. Make sure you check out our new album "Haven For the Insane"!!!

Tom: Thanks and Cheers!!

JIM: I appreciate the interview, but, I really hope my last thought in print is not my FINAL though.

Cardiac Arrest/Haven For The Insane/Ibex Moon Records/2010 CD Review

Cardiac Arrest are a band from Chicago, Illinois that plays death metal with a grindcore edge in the old school vien and this is a review of their 2010 album "Haven For The Insane" which was released by Ibex Moon Records.

Drums have a mixture of midpaced to fast playing with alot of brutal blast beats being thrown in, while the bass playing follows the riffs coming out of the guitars with alot of fast riffing and at times it has a very poerful and distorted sound.

Rhythm guitars are mostly midpaced to fast death metal riffing that has some grindcore and thrash influences and some ocassional slow heavy riffing, while the lead guitars are very distorted and fast sounding guitar solos that are influenced by the masters of death metal.

Vocals are deep death metal growls that are very easy to understand with some high pitched screams being thrown in on ocassion, while the lyrics horror worship, gore, zombies and alot of hateful themes, as for the production it sounds very heavy but professional with most of the instruments coming out with a heavy sound.

In my opinion Cardiac Arrest are a very good old school death metal band that understands their roots and is not following the trend of deathcore, or tech death, if you are a fan of death metal in the classic vien you should check this band out. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Against Their Will" "Embrace The Aftermath" "Rage On Fuck Off" and "Affliction Of The Beast".

Illdisposed Interview

1. Can you update us with what is going on with Illdisposed these days?
To sum up 2009, weive released a new album and done 2 tours. First the Headbanger's Ballalong with our local friends Hatesphere, and later on the Christmas Metasl Meeting with Six Feet Under.

2. Where did you come up with the idea for the band name?
That's a long timeago, but I think word was sung on one of the first Forbidden's album, you know that ole Bay Area thrash band. It has no deeper meanintg to us.

3. What are some of the best shows that you have played so far, and how would you describe your stage performance?
We always try to involve the audience somwhow and making them a part of it.v So to give our best performance on stage takes a good screaming crowd. It can be difficult at a big festivals when people are too far away from us, we prefer the club shows wehere the fall is packed.

4. Are there any plans to tour the United States in the future?
Yeah definitely. We'eo on the roster of the Thunderdome Touring now and will hopefully come to the states in 2010.

5. How would you describe your musical progress and what direction do you see the band heading into on future releases?
In the beginning we were a plain death metal band but after a few releases we devoloped our own kind of grooving death metal. the past 5 years we've gotten more melodic, I guess that's a sign of getting old.

6. How has the new material been recieved so far from the metal community?
Very well. As a matter of fact it's 10 years ago we had a release that was'nt well recieved. But you always have the haters throwing shit at you when you start getting more popular and having your albums on the charts. You just gotta close your eyes to that.

7. How would you describe the lyrical content of the music?
It's mainly Bo's personal view on what's going on with his life. There's alot of hate and depression. I think he's getting all the piled up agressions out that way.

8. What are some bands or music styles that have inspired you to become a musician?
I've always been interested in music, at least since I could understand what music was.I started playing the piano when I was 5 years old. Later on I started playing bass playing and drums and when I was 12 years old I started playing guitar. It was mainly Metallica and King Diamond/ Mercyful Fate who inspired me to play the guitar.

9. What are you listening to nowadays?
I prefer music that has a soul and has something to tell. It can be any genre. I think that many of the new metal bands have to much to prove when they play. It's about being as extreme as possible and it's killing the soul of the music.

10. What are some interests that you have outside of music?
Eating. Drinking. Playing my Wii.

11. How would you describe the metal scene in Denmark, I dont hear much about this country but I know quite a bit about the other Scandiavian countries?
If you would any other Danish metal musician he would say that the scene is better than before, that we have so many bands that atre getting popular worldwide and bla bla bla. But I think it's bullshit. It's difficult to people here to see what's really going on outside the country. We're only a few bands here who are even touring
outside Denmark. doing the hard work that it takes. No wonder that Sweden are better than us at this point. They have the guts to bit on their career and do something about it.

12. Any final words or thoughts?
Yeah check out our new album "To those that walk behind us". In case you don't know people often compare us to Kataklysm and Amon Amarth and stuff like that. Hopefully see you on tour.

4. What is your opinion of modern death metal and grindcore?

4)Modern death metal scene has a lot of great bands ,such as Necrophagist,Spawn of possession,Decapitated and many ohters that make death metal be a very innovative genre, together with the cult bands,as well as grind core scene, even if i have to say we don't listen very much to this last one.

5. What are some of the best live shows that you have played so far?

5)among various good bands we have shared the stage with,I remember of course that concert with Behemoth,in southern Italy on 2003:it was great!!

6. What releases have you put out so far?

6)"Until It Bleeds" is our debut album, but before we have released some demos and promos("Ghouls" in 1996;"Rebaptized In Blasphemy" in 1998;"Promo 2000" and "Promo 2003").As you can see our debut album has been released some years late, but as I told you before,we had some line-up problems that caused a delay for the release of the album."UIB" completely satisfies us,it has a direct sound but at the same time extremely clear.each memeber of the group have totally been involved in the arrangements.we are proud of it!!

7. How would you describe your musical progress over the years?

9)we are taking contacts with some bands that want us to go to some cities and various places to play our music.at the moment we can't add more things,'cause we are trying to define these projects.

10. What are your main influences music wise or non music wise?

10)our musical influence comes from what each member of the band listens to,that goes from the classical music to the most furious death metal;instead our non musical influence comes from our way of life and about the lyrical side I write all the lyrics, all dealing with the darkness of humanity, such as perversion, tortures, eroticism, sufference and anti-religious themes.

11. What are you listening to nowadays and what are some good bands or releaeses that you would recommend?

11)nowadays we are listening to different styles of music,as i said before.I would suggest Suffocation,Morbid Angel,Bach just to talk about some stuff I listen to.

12. Does Satanism or Anti Christianity play a role in your music or life?

12)I would prefer talkin about anti-christianity more than satanism, total anti-religiousness.I like thinkin on the concept of the freedom of the human beings, both physical and mental.I like the idea of the man as a God on his own, even though this is the central concept of satanism.no-religion means life, free life!

13. What are some good films or books that you would recommend

?13)I'd suggest "Quills" that talks about the life of Marquise De Sade,"The Butterlfy Effect" and "Memento" dealing with the theme of memory and its powers,"Manson Family","Romanzo Criminale" that talks about of '80 Roman criminal traffic, and "Christiane F.".These are some of my favourite movies.with regard to books i like very much "Justine","Juliette" and "Les 120 Journes De Sodome" all written by De Sade, then "Faust" of Goethe,"Angel and demons"(D.Brown),"A History Of Torture"(G.R.Scott) and many comics such as "Dylan Dog","Dago","Diabolik","Dampyr"...Do you know these last ones?

14. How would you describe the death metal/grind scene in Italy?

14)In Italy the scene has a lot of good bands, but in order not to forget some bands,i'd prefer not to talk about their names.well I'd suggest a band i like very much...they are called "Ghouls" ahahahahaha!!!

15. Any final words?

15)enjoy the pleasures of the flesh and soul, live every day as if it were the last of your life(it could be!!!!),you won't have no other God except yourself. That's all!!!

16. Thanks for the interview?

Abacinate/Genesis/Epitomite Records/2011 CD Review

Abacinate are a band from New jersey that plays brutal death metal with a grindcore edge and this is a review of their 2011 album "Genesis" which was released by Epitomite Records.

Drums alternate between midpaced to fast drumming with alot of brutal blast beats, while the bass playing is mixed down low in the mix and seems to follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they sound very powerful when the music slows down, and on the instrumental there are some very strong bass leads being utilized.

Rhythm guitars alternate between midpaced to fast brutal death metal riffs that also utilize influences from grindcore and thrash, while the lead guitars are very technical and melodic sounding death metal guitar solos.

Vocals are mostly deep death metal growls with some high pitcched grindcore screams being thrown in at times, while the lyrics cover death, vilence, self empowerment and hatred, as for the production it has a very heavy and powerful sound.

In my opinion Abacinate are a very original sounding brutal death metal band, and if you are a fan of this genre and looking for something different, you should check out this group. RECEMMONDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Night Of the Desireable Objects" "Purveyors Of Scum" "The Natural Disasters" and "The Bundy Curse". RECEMMMONDED BUY.

Grimus Interview

1. Can you update us with what is going on with the band these days?
Back in September we released our Gutter Earth EP and are currently playing shows to help support it. We just signed with New York-based label, Innerstrength Records. We're trying to take over the world and end it.

2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new e.p?
It's a very aggressive and driven sound. It's definitely more relentless than our previous release, The Progress In Elimination. We like to describe it as modern death metal with old-school influences.

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and concepts the new release explores?
To put it bluntly, the most beautiful thing in the world would be to witness its end. That's what the lyrics focus on. The idea is that the most agonizing thing is to exist. We're going die and that gives us peace of mind.

4. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
There are tons of shows we loved, but the ones that stand out the most was our first CD release show in support of The Progress In Elimination and when we played with Suffocation. At our CD release show, we packed a local VFW beyond capacity and it became somewhat of a party--a lot of familiar faces and old friends showed-up and some even got punched in the face. The other show we loved was when we played with Suffocation and Fleshgod Apocalypse; we admire those bands and were really excited to play with them. When we hit the stage/floor/basement we just envision ourselves murdering everyone and most importantly we have fun with it.

5. Do you have any touring plans for the future?
Of course. There is nothing set in stone yet, but it's the best way to get out there and get your music heard. That's what we want.

6. Currently you are signed to InnerStrength Records, how did you come in contact with this label and how would you describe the support that they have given you so far?
After we released Gutter Earth we got a lot of good feedback from friends, fans and peers. A friend of ours, Macky, passed our music on to Jason from Innerstrength and he dug it and offered us a deal. We're fresh on the roster, so we're looking forward to the partnership.

7. Do you have any side projects besides this band?
Mike G. (bass) and JP (drummer) play in blackened folk metal band Windfaerer. Mike G. also fronts death metal band Painted Rust from Brooklyn.

8. On a worldwide level, how has your music been received by death metal fans worldwide?
We honestly don't know how it's been received worldwide, because frankly we've really only been around the tri-state area. We like to write music for ourselves and if people like it, great, if they don't, they don't. On the real, fuck the world.

9. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Our music is directly influenced by bands like Bloodbath, Behemoth, Morbid Angel, Decapitated, Despised Icon, and this big ball of shit we call "home". Personally, we all listen to a plethora things, ranging from post-rock to hip hop (and of course metal).

10. How would you describe your musical progress over the years and what direction do you see the music heading into on future releases?
We like the fact that we evolved from our earlier stages. It's entertaining to look back on our progress. Our first release had a more prominent Gothenburg-influenced sound with a few hints of metalcore. In Gutter Earth we began to feel free about going in a more crushing death metal direction. A major factor in this change was our best friend, JP Andrade, joining us on the drums. His playing style meshed well with the direction we wanted to approach. Currently, we're planning to keep pushing our sound to the next level. We don't want to be a stagnant band. Evolution is progress.

11. Outside of music, what are some of your interests?
Music is a substantial part of each of our lives. We like to laugh a lot; that's a major chunk of our lives, as well. We're always making jokes and making each other feel uncomfortable. Besides music, Bryan enjoys watching UFC and Howard Stern in his room on his bunk-bed with his Batman comforter whilst eating chicken wings. Marco records bands in his home-studio called Crimson Recording, he is also a film student and very busy guy. Mike M (Big Daddy Mike) likes to party (and fall on and break beer pong tables), architecture, and Comedy Central. Mike G enjoys working out, graphic design, traveling and always being late to places. JP, honestly, just drums... All the time. (He plays soccer once in a while.)

12. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
We want to thank everyone that has been helping us along the way, and supporting us. We want to give a big shout out to our good friend PJ Spilletti (from awesome NJ band Purge the Plague) who's been helping us by learning our material and playing out-of-state when one of our guitarists can't make it. A big cloud of hate goes out to our peers in An Aborted Memory, Failure In Vanity, One Brick Down, The Ghost In Black And White, Fit For An Autopsy, Abacinate, Rivers Of Nihil, Lorna Shore, Killed The Fixtion, Rigo (Bigo), the Earsplit Compound, Innerstrength Records and our home Hellhound Studios... Fuck Fern.
