Divinity/The Singularity/Candlelight Records/2009 CD Review

Divinity are a band from Calgary, Alberta Canada that plays a very technical form of melodic death metal and this is a review of their 2009
album "The Singularity" which was released by Candlelight Records during the year of 2009.

Drums range from midpaced drumming with some very technical fast playing that utilizes alot of blast beats, while the bass playing has a very dark tone which follows the riffs that are coming out of the guitars and at times they sound very powerful.

Rhythm guitars are mostly midpaced to fast technical death metal riffs that contain a good amount of melody while the lead guitars are very technical and melodic sounding death metal guitar solos.

Vocals are mostly high pitched melodic death metal screams with some deep growls, shouting style of vocals and some clean singing, while the lyrics cover everyday life type of times with a good amount of anger, as for the production it has a very professional sound and all of the instruments have a very good sound.

In my opinion Divinity are a very good band with an original sound that mixes the melodic, brutal and technical genres of death metal together and while some of their music has some commercial leanings which I dont think belong in death metal, they still are a very talented band that should appeal to all fans of modern death metal. RECEMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Beg To Consume" "Transformation" "Embrace The Uncertain" and "Approaching The Singularity". RECOMMENDED BUY.
