Savage Annihilation Interview

Can you tell us a little bit about the band for those that have never
heard of you before?
Dave (guitars / vox): Savage Annihilation was founded in 2002. We released
our debut demo, « Death In Progress » in 2003 and a split CD with
Decrepify, Ad Nauseam and Visceral in 2008. It’s quite hard to find
good and motivated musicians fans of brutal music in our part of
France but we kept going on and finally could record our debut
full-length, « Cannibalisme, hérésie et autres sauvageries » which is
gonna be released through Kaotoxin records on Oct.1st.  We
self-produced it. I took care of guitars, bass and vocals and Mike, my
brother, handled the drums. Since a couple month, we’re now a trio,
with the addition of Aara on bass.

How would you describe your musical sound?
D: I’d say Savage Annihilation is a brutal Death Metal band influenced
by the US and Brazilian scene of the 90’s. Evil, fast with some
technical parts.
Mike (drums): Yes, that’s absolutely the way I’d describe it too. Our
main influences being the likes of Morbid Angel, Krisiun and Cannibal
Corpse.

What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores
with the music?
D: That’s a concept album I wrote. I wanted something dealing with
chaos, zombies, the Devil and the eradication of the Human race. The
lyrics are written on some witness of that human holocaust during
which Satan and his anthropophagus legions are coming to devour
Humanity.

What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
D&M: When the band was founded, Cannibal Corpse just released « Gore
Obsessed ». The band’s name is coming from their song “Savage
Butchery” and, then “Savage Annihilation” came to mind and we kept it.
It’s really fitting our music!

What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and
how would you describe your stage performance?
D: The best one we did, in my opinion, was this June, in Paris. Sadly,
our set had to be quite  short, but I really enjoyed it!
M: We’ve been having a bunch of good gigs before the line-up problems
occured (2009-2011), too! But one I’ve been digging a lot was a Swiss
gig with Nervochaos! One of the biggest venue we ever played!

Do you have any touring plans for the new release?
M: We’re currently booking a November French tour with our Spanish
brothers of Avgrunn. Good brutal Death / Grind as we like it! We’re
also playing the Loches en Grind Fest in France, on October, along the
likes of Cliteater, Hymen Holocaust or our friends and label-mates of
VxPxOxAxAxWxAxMxC. We’re also planning an European mainland tour for
2013. Stay tuned!

On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans
of Brutal Death Metal?
The promotion started something like a week ago, so it’s really hard
to say, right now. I don’t know if our demo and split have really
circulated outside France so it’s hard to tell. But, our buddies of
Rabid Dogs, Bestial Devastation, Tools Of Torture, Avgrunn or even
Nervochaos seem to like our stuff, already.

What is going on with the other musical projects these days?
M: We’re working hard to record the debut full-lengths for our tow
other projects, Defecal Of Gerbe (Goregrind) and Brennkelt (Black /
Death). We’ll try to hit the road with the three bands as much as we
can, next year!
Aara (bass): I’m now also the guitar player for Blosus, a Death Metal
band from Paris.

What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
M&D: We already have two tracks written for our next full-length and a
third one is in the works. It’s still gonna be Savage Annihilation,
but with more maturity, too. On “Cannibalisme, hérésie et autres
sauvageries”, there are some tracks we’ve written years ago. So, the
next one will be more “up-to-date”. After all, this debut has been ten
years in the making, composition-wise, somehow. As far as we can
figure it out with these two new tracks, it’s gonna be a bit less
monolithic than on the current one.

What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music
and also what are you listening to nowadays?
M&D: The ones that influenced us are, among others, Morbid Angel,
Krisiun, Hate Eternal, Deeds Of Flesh, Death, Deicide, Nile, Cannibal
Corpse… but we’re listening to lost of other stuff too, like Heavy
Metal, Thrash, Gridncore, Hardcore and the good ol’ roots, Hard Rock,
like Deep Purple, AC/DC, Motörhead, etc.
A: Same here, but I’d add a huge love for Doom, Sludge and Stoner too!

Outside of music what are some of your interests?
D: music is all my life, I’ve got no interest in whatever else.
M: I’m selling second-hand music gear in a shop as a leaving. One day,
I’ll get a living out of Death Metal (kidding).
A: I’m a fan of photography and I’m working in an hospital. Nothing
really special, as you can see.

Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
M&D: Thanks for the intie! First one in three years and first one for
the release of “Cannibalisme, hérésie et autres sauvageries”! You can
listen to the album on http://kaotoxinrecords.bandcamp.com (at least a
track, right now, but there’s gonna be a full-album streaming down
somewhere during the preorders, too). Hope you’ll like our stuff!
Beware, we’re coming to  annihilate the whole world!

Scornage Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
Hi there ( at the moment we just are happy that our new album has been released and as far as we can tell, it is received very well by fans and the media (
We are in the middle of booking several shows to promote the new Album…guess there will be a lot ahead of us during the next  months (
Then we will start with the writing process for the next album….but that lies far in the future ;)

>
> 2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new album and how it differs from previous recordings?
The sound on the new record was made by Andy Claassen; a true professional!!! And that shows within every note you can hear on the album. The Music itself stayed nearly the same as on the older releases, though we are constantly evolving musically. Our dutch guitarist Tom B. had a far greater influence in the writing of the songs than he had on “Born to Murder the World”. Due to that there are some Death-Metal influences we never had before in this amount. But I think it suits us well and makes our music more interesting.
>
> 3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the new release?
Half of the lyrics deal with some personal trouble I had during the past few years. I tried to express the feelings I had and canalize them through our music…and maybe some other people can relate to that and take something from the lyrics for their life (
The other half deals with stuff that moved me somehow, for example there has been a big craze in Germany about priests molesting little children and they never really got punished for it!! I was going “WHAT THE FUCK???”…and the song “Holy Rape” was born.
>
> 4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
The name of the band consists of the Words “age” and “scorn” put together apparently :D
I don t want to sound too negative, but if u look at the world around us, there is a lot of stuff happening that really fucks u up!!...so to us it seems that we are living in the Age of Scorn!!!
>
> 5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
We had several good experiences while playing live…but one of the best shows was in a German town called “Siegen” where we played as opener for “Heathen”….the crowd went crazy from the first song on….we were very impressed that the crowd seemed to have more fun while we played than….well u can guess (
We love to play live and enjoy it very much and I guess you can see that in the moment we enter the stage!! One word to describe it may be “sweaty” ;)
>

> 6. Do you have any touring plans for the new release?
There are no plans for a real tour right now….but like I said before there will be plenty of opportunities to see us live in the next months. Just check scornage.com for touring news (
And if u find the time visit us on 15th of September in Aachen where we will play our release show for the new album (

>
> 7. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your newer music by fans of extreme metal?
So far the reviews and comments we got for “reaFEARance” were great!! I hope that the fans will give us a chance to stand up against bigger bands like “Kreator” or “Sodom”….I really think we deserve a chance ;)
>
> 8. Are there any other musical projects besides this band or is this a full time line up?
Our drummer used to play in a Death Metal project called “InRuinen” but they quit some year ago…right now only our guitarist TomB is playing in another band by the name of “Retribution”…check´em out too….they are cool (
>
> 9. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
We will always stay fast and thrashy!!! It in our blood to play fast music…we would never change our style due to pressure by the music industry or something like that!!
Don´t expect a “Nothing else Matters” from Scornage *lol*

>
> 10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
We are influenced by all the great thrash Bands we used to listen to for our whole life: Exodus, Testament, Overkill, Kreator…just to name a few (
Markus (bass) and Volker (git) are the truest thrashers in the band ;) there musical preferences are mainly based in thrash metal, though they are open to other genres too (
Tom (dr) is very fond of Black Metal and his all time favourite is Satyricon. He is also a big fan of Slipknot…which I can relate more to than the Black Metal stuff ;)
TomB (git) digs himself deep into technical Death Metal like “Necrophagist” but also bands like “Symphony X” or “Ayreon” are amongst his favourites with “Mike Oldfield” on top of it all (
I guess I am the “pussy” in the Band when it comes to musical taste ;)…my favourite Band is “Marillion” ( I love “Cradle of Filth” and “Overkill” but apart from that I am not listening to much metal music at the moment.
>
> 11. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
Three of us have family or at least wives, they spend most of their time with when not involved with the band or work and the rest of us is wasting their time by playing stupid video games *lol*
To keep u on the edge of your seats I won´t tell who does what *lol*
>
> 12. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
Thanks for the interview and we hope to see u all out on the road (

Unchained Interview

1.
Can you tell us a little bit about the band for those that have never heard of you before?

Unchained was created in 2010 by guitarist Jonathan and drummer Olivier after he left his former band Kragens. When the line up was completed with Joel on bass, Thib on lead guitar and myself, Pierre, on vocals, we started to write songs and play gigs, like any other band. We released a self produced EP called Russia in 2011, then we got signed to M&O Music. Our debut album called Oncoming Chaos is released on this label on September 10th.

2.      How would you describe your musical sound?

We all love both the aggression of death metal and the melodic side of heavy metal, I guess you can hear that in our songs. I’d say we play some kind of modern heavy-death metal with death metal vocals. The best of both worlds!

3.      What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

Some songs are about human behaviour like blaming someone or something instead of taking responsibility for your actions, or being led only by the lure of money. Some topics may be quite dark and gloomy, but we always try to maintain a glimpse of hope and optimism. We also have an atheist anthem called The God Delusion.

4.      What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?

The name of the band can be seen as a rebellious statement: get rid of the chains that bind you, you don’t have to do what society expects you to. Disobey, live your life and become who you really are. That’s what the song Unchained is all about.

5.      What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

We’ve mostly played in the south of France so far, specially on the French Riviera where we are from. Some shows are better than others, some audiences are more reactive than others…But we always do our best to deliver the best performance, both musically and visually. People who come to a show don’t want to see a bunch of statues looking at their instruments or their feet. So we try to inject a dose of rock n’ roll in our show, we even cover some Mötley Crüe on stage! After all everybody’s here to have a good time, right?

6.      Do you have any touring plans for the new album?

Sure! We’re playing a gig in Nice, our hometown, for the release of the album. Then we plan to play further and further away from home, we already have some gigs planned in Marseille and St Etienne. The goal for next year is to play as many gigs as possible, including some festivals. Some concerts are about to be confirmed soon.

7.      On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of melodic death metal?

Our album is not released yet, so the only feedback we’ve had so far was for our EP Russia last year. Most of it was very good, not so many bands play our kind of music in France. But it was for the most part local feedback, we’re looking forward to hearing what people think of our album, even though we play for ourselves and our fans.

8.      Are there any other musical projects besides this band or is this a full time line up?

This is definitely a full time line up, Unchained is everyone’s main band.

9.      What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

We’ve already started to write new songs in the rehearsal room. It’s too soon to have a clear idea of where we’re going, but the new material seems to be a little bit more technical than Oncoming Chaos, so far. But don’t worry, we’re not going to sound ‘djent’ or to play crabcore…

10.  What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

As I said before we can be influenced by classic heavy metal bands from the 80’s, such as Accept, Maiden or Priest, as well as Swedish melodic death metal bands like At The Gates, Dark Tranquillity or early In Flames. But I have to admit Steel Panther is my favourite band theses days, and I’m not the only one in the band!

11.  Outside of music what are some of your interests?

You mean besides sex, drugs and rock n’ roll? Well I’m French so of course football and cooking are essential to me! To be honest I spend more time eating than really cooking, but French Cuisine is one of the reasons I live.

12.  Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Thank you so much for your time, and thanks to everyone who will take some time to read the interview. We’re going to release a video for our song Infernal Death Machine real soon so check it out, listen to our music online then buy the CD if you like it and come to see us play!

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  great  amount  of  brutal  sounding  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that is  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  gore/death  metal  riffs  that  are  very  heavy  and  brutal  sounding  with  some  technical  parts  being  thrown  into  the  riffing,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  chaotic  sounding  death  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads,  as  for  the  classical  guitars  which  are  only  utilized  on  one  song  they  use  finger  picking  to  make  the  music  sound  more  dark.

Vocals  are  mostly  deep  death  metal  growls  with  some  high  pitched  screams  being  thrown  into  the  music  that  have  a  grindcore  feeling  to  them  at  times,  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  French  and  cover  gore  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  and  heavy  sound  to  it.

I Spit Ashes Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
At the moment we feel pretty chilled, cause our "baby" hit stores on 24th August. Apart from that we are rehearsing, playing shows and have fun these days...

2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new album?
Pretty inorganic from the sound itself but very deep and melodic, if the listener allows those feelings. We somehow have a futuristic, modern touch... Death Metal, Industrial, melodies... all you need for partying!

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the new release?
We try to offer topics, everyone can identify with. They mostly base on experiences, thoughts etc. One should definitely read the lyrics because they have a meaning and are not just there for being!

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind  the bands name?
It is like a slogan... and it could fit for everyone with one's own interpretations. It is also flirting with the phoenix legend. Rise and be!

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
We had a lot of great gigs and we don't want to miss a single one, also some were signed by problems. We are energetic and don't appear like a "normal" rock band. We wear stage clothes and come up with extra light. As we are a young band we try to offer the most we can for short change overs!

6. Do you have any touring plans for the new release?
There are confirmed a couple of gigs and more are definitely to come. Just check us out on the internet regularly...

7. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of extreme Metal?
Well, I think as many lovers we got as many haters come 'round the corner. But we concentrate more on positive input. To all others: go crying!

8. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
We don't try to invent I Spit Ashes new... it is more 'bout natural evolution, 'cause we have clear imaginations in our heads like what we want to sound. But we don't have borders and rules to fulfill those sound-imaginations. So we will see... the best would be you check it out in the future!

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Well the range of styles is wide. And there are a lot of great bands. But soundwise it is more about emotions and "soundpictures" than genres.

11. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
Some are surfing and doing sports but most of the time everything is about music and band.

12. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
Thanks for your interest in I Spit Ashes and giving a young band a stage to picture itself! To all the readers out there... Give "IBRL" a listen and don't care about genres... just the music!

Cryptopsy Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
Well very simply, we have recorded a new album entitled Cryptopsy and we are now in the process of its release.
We want to tour and are waiting on interesting offers to do so.

2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new album and how it differs from previous recordings?
The sound production itself is quite amazing. Every instrument can be clearly heard, a type of thing that we have been striving for on every album.
I can say that the songs are very different one from the other making it a very interesting and fun album. Its also more interesting riff wise (i find) then the last release with a more brutal vocal.

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the new release?
Thats usually a question that Matt would answer since he writes all the lyrics, but i can say that it's an all Canadian content album.
Each song is based on a true happenings that took place somewhere and at a point of time in Canada. Unexplained accidents, happenings and phenomenas.
Quite interesting little pieces of our history.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
The bands name was created by Lord Worm and its the words Crypt and Autopsy put together, meaning the analysis and search into what is dead.
We all have our different interpretation of it, lol

5. Out of  all  the  shows  and  tours  the  band has done over the years which one did you enjoy the most?
That's a tough question!! I like doing Canadian tours cause we usually bring our buddies with us and have a great time on the road. Japan has always been a treat for the band as well. We have also done great tours in europe thanks to our polish crew and great friends. Shows that go well playing wise and crowd energy wise are the best, wether there are 50 or 5000 fans present.

6. Are there any touring plans for the new release?
Yes there will definitely be, none confirmed though at present.

7. The new album is coming out as being self releases, what was the decision to release it by yourself, after being singed to all of these huge metal labels over the years?
The decision came from being signed to a huge label over the years, lolll. No seriously though, it's simple logic, we have an international market so all we really need is a product for that market. With the help of Clawhammer Promo, Revolution Harmony rec., JVC Japan, Galy rec., and Plastichead distro we have chosen to release ourselves. Our fans get our product through us, very simple.

8. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your newer material by the brutal death metal fans that have heard it so far?
The reaction has been amazing and i can't wait until our fans hear some more of the newer songs!!!

9. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
It's always gona be Cryptopsy, brutal music, extreme music, of course with new riffs and new technics as we all progress on our instruments over the years.

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Wow, thats the 4000 page question, hehe. There are so many bands and musical styles that we all combined listen to that just naming a few does not serve anyone justice. When we write Cryptopsy though we focus on that alone and try not to be too influenced by exterior sources. I'm listening to a lot of different drumming these days and thats exclusively for my personal evolution.

11. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
I like training and doing what i like to call drum specific training where the muscle groups i train are utilized in my playing. I also just enjoy spending time with my girl and our kids.

Cryptopsy/Self Titled/2012 CD Review

Cryptopsy  are  a  band  from  Montreal,  Quebec,  Canada  that  has  been  around  for  a  long  time  that  plays  a  very  brutal  and  technical  form  of  death  metal  with  a  deathcore  edge  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  and  self  titled  2012  album.

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  great  amount  of  brutal  sounding  blast  beats  being thrown  into t he  music,  while the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  death  metal  riffs  that  are  very  heavy,  brutal  and  technical sounding  along  with  some deathcore  parts  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing  that  brings  in  elements  of  jazz  music,  while t he  lead  guitars  are  very  technical  and  melodic  sounding  death  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads.

Vocals  are  mostly  deep  death  metal  growls  mixed  in  with  a  great  amount  of  high  pitched  screams, while  the  lyrics  cover  violent  and  hateful themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  to  it  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  album  from  Cryptopsy  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of this  band,  you  should  enjoy  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Shag  Harbour's  Visitors"  "Amputated  Enigma"  and  "Cleansing  The  Hosts".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

Engorgement Interview

1. Can you tell us a little bit about the band for those that have never heard of you before?

Hey what's up?, this is James here, We're Ultra Putrid Sick Rotten Brutal Slamming Death Metal from 4 different parts of the U.K!!

2. How would you describe youral musical sound?

Putrid Guttural Brutal Death Metal with occasional Slam parts

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

We try to think of what hasn't been done before lyrically, some of the subjects are actually based on real past events.
The overall concept is Sickness, Violence and Brutality...

4. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

We played a good one with Severe Torture not so far back, also have some good all dayer fests coming up and a sick show in Switzerland to be announced. Performance is quite lively and some have even said intense, people seem to enjoy us live which is great.

5. Do you have any touring plans for the future?

Oh man, we really hope to tour the U.S, but failing that then definately Europe.

6. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of brutal death metal

People seem to like us, we have people into Brutal Death who dig us and people into Slamming Death that enjoy it too. all the negative feedback we received was from people who don't even like or listen to Death Metal, just butt-hurt over the lyrical content and themes, hahah...

7. Are there any other musical projects besides this band or is this a full time line up?

Stu Hine our guitarist is in Goresanctum - a one man band, Mitch Rider the drummer also plays drums in Kraanium, I used to play bass in Embryonic Depravity with Mitch also but that band is now defunct...Embryonic Depravity R.I.P.

8. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

We have already started writing new material, I would say it's still along the same lines but faster with slower slam parts, but not too many...

9. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

For our music I would say Cesspool Of Vermin, Lust Of Decay, Ezophagothomia, Cephalotripsy and Vulvectomy. However I'm currently listening to Necrotic Disgorgement, Atrocious Abnormality, Waco Jesus, Lividity, Skew, Shuriken Cadaveric Entwinement, Human Artifacts, Lust Of Decay, Debodified, Created To Kill, Regurgitation, Coathanger Abortion, Bloodsoaked & Cesspool of Vermin,..etc. I know the other guys are listening to alot of proper Slamming stuff, too many to mention hahah...

10. Outside of music what are some of your interests?

Oh man, i'm afraid that what I say might be used against me in a court of law! hahah

11. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Thanks for the interest and the interview, thanks to anyone who supports us in anyway, Stay Putrid, Keep it Brutal!!!

Zonaria Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with  the band these days?
We have just released our new album The Arrival of the Red Sun and    we are soon to release a new video from one of the songs of this    album.

2. How would you describe the musical sound of the  new album and how it differs from previous recordings?
I would say that this record is more well made than the other two.    We put alot more time into this record and we also focused on making    more variations than in previous albums. This of course led us to    make a better and more unique album than our previous ones.

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects  the band explores with the new release?
As before our lyrics are post-apocalyptic in it's nature. Though I    wouldn't say that it would be impossible to relate them to the    modern world either. That is kind of the point to make lyrics that    capture the listeners imagination even though the subject itself    isn't that easy to relate to.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the  bands name?
I myself wasn't in the band when they chose the name. What I know is    that it is a latin word for describing something coulorfull. It's    often used in the context of describing birds or insects.

 5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
I guess that I haven't been playing on the bands best shows yet.    Though we had a fantastic show last time we were in Cardiff, but    it's realy hard to say. Many cities can offer you a awesome show. I    would say that it's theatrical and dark. That is kind of the point    at least.

6. Do you have any touring plans for the new release?
We have might have some plans ongoing ut nothing that is offical    yet.

 7. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to  your newer material by the extreme metal fans that have                heard it so far?
It has been great. We have gotten alot of great reviews and    likeness. Also I myself have noticed our fanbase growing quite alot    since the release.

8. Are there any current side projects besides this band or is this a full time line up?
The other members don't have any other bands they are active in but    I have one. A band called Folkmord, it's swedish for genocide. It's    a bit diffrent from the Zonaria sound but if you're into metal you    might like it.

9. What direction do you see your music heading into  on future releases?
The future is quite unsure though we have started a bit of the    writings of new songs. But I can't say that we can know now how it's    going to sound. Very Zonarian as usual I guess.

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your newer music and also what are you                listening to nowadays?
We are all of us listening to music all over the place. But our main    insperations remains the same as before.

11. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
Well I can't say that I have time for more then music. But I guess    playing minecraft is something I realy do like.

12. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up  this interview?
Not much but I would like to say to our fans out there to keep your    eyes open for our new video. It's going to be awesome!

Zonaria/Arrival Of The Red Sun/Listenable Records/2012 CD Review

Zonaria  are  a  band  from  Sweden  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  and  melodic  form  of  death  metal and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "Arrival  Of  The  Red  Sun"  which  was  released  by  Listenable  Records.

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music  a  times,  while  the  synths  bring  a  very  dark  and  atmospheric  sound  to  the  music,  as  for  the  bass  playing  it  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  melodic  death  metal  riffs  that  utilize  some  influences  from  black  and  groove  metal  in  the  riffing  as  well  as  some  technical  parts  and  clean  playing,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  melodic  sounding  guitar  solos  and  leads.

Vocals  range  deep  death  metal  growls,  high  pitched  screams  and  some  clean  singing  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark and  depressive  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  to  it.

In  my  opinion  Zonaria  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  and  melodic  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of t his  style  of  music,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Arrival  Of  The  Red  Sun"  "Gunpoint  Salvation"  "Full  Spectrum  Dominance"  and  "Face  My  Justice".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

Disintegrate Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

Well, our album has just been released through Massacre Records and we are very excited about it. But that doesn't mean we are sitting on our asses, waiting for what's to come. We are working hard on new songs for a second album and we are working on some cool stuff to improve our live show.

2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new album and how it differs from previous recordings?
Our previous release was a demo and contained four songs that we have re-recorded for this album. The focus on that demo was a bit more on thrash metal and with our new album we've tried to incorporate some more styles and try different things to get more of a distinct sound. We always focus on writing good songs and not just to combine  a meaningless string of riffs.

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the new release?
Our main influence for our lyrics is life itself. We look critically at what surrounds us and what is happening in the world. For instance; Twist of Faith is about sexual abuse in the Catholic church, a subject that doesn't seem to loose any actuality. And Casus Belli is about the pointlessness of war and the meaningless deaths of civilians and soldiers that go with it.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
Disintegrate means "to fall apart" and that is all there is to it. There is not really any deep reason on why we chose it

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
We have done a lot of awesome shows but there are some that are more memorable than others. Being asked to play with Sepultura was fantastic and to open the main stage on Waldrock, one of the largest metal festivals in Holland was a dream coming true. We like to give energetic and fierce live shows with a lot of aggression and a good balance between the songs.

6. Do you have any touring plans for the future?
We are slowly gathering shows for the new season and we'd love to go on tour to promote the album, but there is no tour confirmed so far.

7. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your new music by fans of melodic death and thrash metal?
So far, the album has been received pretty well.  Obviously not everybody likes it, but the general opinion seems to be good. You can never please everyone, and that is not our goal. Thrash fans sometimes feel we are too melodic and should not use keyboards. And some death fans think we are too thrashy. But we do what we do, take it or leave it.

8. Are there any other current side projects besides this band or is this a full time line up?
We have the current line up since 2009 and this is the most solid and creative we have had. But there are some other bands that some of us are involved in. Danny (vocals/keys) is also a drummer in the progressive death metal outfit Dimaeon, and just recorded his parts for their new album. Our drummer Joran is also the drummer in the live band for Bert Heerink(ex-Vandenberg) and our bassist Sander is working on a solo album, due this year, under the name Sense vs. Sanity.

9. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
We are getting a clearer definition on what we want to sound like and what we want to do. We will maintain the combination between melodic death and thrash, but it will be more balanced.

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
We are influenced by so many bands; to name them all would be too extensive. Swedish bands like Dark Tranquillity, Darkane and In Flames have always been an inspiration to us, but every musician in the band has his own influence. Obviously Death is of great influence as well and also some of the German thrash bands like Kreator. Their new album is killer and we are looking forward to seeing them in our home town in December.

11. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
Music is our main interest and most of us are always playing when our lives allow us. Between our jobs, music and even children nowadays, we all enjoy a good whisky, read and play video games. Nothing too extreme.

12. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
Thank you for this interview en giving us the opportunity to introduce the band a bit. We hope your readers will take the time to listen to our album and hopefully like it!
