Skrog Interview

1. Can you tell us a little bit about the band for those that have never heard of you before?

Skrog is an industrial metal band based out of the WI/MN area. Skrog was originally created back in 1998 by Jay Reiter (myself) but ended up being put on the back burner for almost a decade for various reasons. Now Skrog's debut album, The Global Elite, is finished - and it's brutal and fast. Skrog explores the various taboos of the global power/money structure and exposes the hidden agenda of those who are in control.

2. How would you describe your musical sound?

Explosive, fast, and electric. There are elements of black metal, death metal, and thrash in Skrog. I'd call it Necrometal.
3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

This album explores the basic concept of a New World Order taking control of a complacent and impoverished group of societies. The themes in The Global Elite span across mind control, current societies' demise, military expansion and takeover, and more. One song, Military Industrial Complex, even uses past presidential speeches to prove that this oligarchy is real and to be feared and detested.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?

The name Skrog means forcing information into your brain that may be ugly or unsavory but completely necessary and beneficial.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

Skrog has yet to do a live show. I am in the process of auditioning musicians for a live act now.

6. Do you have any touring plans for the future?

Absolutely! Come spring time Skrog will be touring the US, Europe, and more.

7. Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label and if so what kind of label do you feel that would be a perfect fit for your music?

I just signed a three album deal with Goomba Music a few weeks ago. I'm excited to see where this heads.

8. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of extreme metal?

Extremely positive. The Global Elite has been reviewed by many people across the globe. The reviews are always full of praise and positive commentary. Many people have stated that Skrog is very Ministry in sound (at least older Ministry) which I take as a large compliment. I dig Ministry a lot and am proud to carry on the torch.

9. Are there any other musical projects besides this band or is this a full time line up?

Full time deal at the moment. Skrog once upon a time was the side project to a different band I was in - Skull Fuckers Incorporated. Now that SF Inc is all but dead, Skrog is my full time baby. I have no plans to start up a musical side project at this time. Now feature length movies on the other hand...

10. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

I want to go deeper into the rabbit hole, so to speak, both thematically and musically. I feel like The Global Elite is a great starter album. It scratches the surface of the topics I want to discuss but I feel that there is a LOT more that needs to be said. I want the next album to be a lot more technical and progressive in certain ways. I want more synth-y kinds of songs. I also want to incorporate more blasting into my music. I'm very inspired to write and I can't wait to get back into a studio.

11. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Ministry, Slayer, Skinny Puppy, Frontline Assembly, Nile, Slayer, Strapping Young Lad, Bile, old Metallica and Megadeth, NIN, Suffocation, Immortal, and Slayer.

12. Outside of music what are some of your interests?

Film directing and comic book writing. I've got a business called Satyrn Studios that I'm trying to get up and running. I have a lot of stories that would be fun to see in both printed form and on the silver screen.

13. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Can't wait to get out and tour. Look for Skrog coming your way this spring!

Chariots Of The Gods Interview

1. Can you tell us a little bit about the band for those that have never heard of you before?
We're that badass metal band from Ottawa, Canada! We've been around since 2007, touring that same country. This past winter, we went in studio with producer Glen Robinson to record what turned out to be our upcoming album, entitled ''Tides of War''.

--

2. How would you describe your musical sound?
That's always a tough question to answer... From our perspective, we can point out so many influences from differentstyles that it makes it hard for us to label ourselves. Most of the individuals in the band have their own musical background, and even though these backgrounds sort of meet, they're also very different. There's of course lots of the metal genre influences, from death to black, thrash to power, but also a lot of hard rock, punk rock, hardcore, blues, classical, and even hip-hop.  To vulgarize it,  I guess that saying something in the vein of ''melodic deathcore thrash''would make sense, melodic being an important keyword.

--

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
Both Mat (guitar) and Renaud (vocal) are writing lyrics. I'd say that on this album, its pretty much half & half. Once you get into the anatomy of the lyrics though, its pretty easy to figure out who wrote what lol. Renaud's also a drummer, so he really likes to work with the rhythmic of words, giving them that sort of flavourful bounce, and he often emphasises drum impacts with his lyrics. There's no precise topics on which he likes to write (except if youconsider ''badass'' a topic), but if I'd have to compare his work from Mat's, the main difference would be that Mat usually writes about the mythical and historic stuff, and he does it in a more traditional way. Everything else is Renaud
lol!

--

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?

Actually, ''Chariots of the Gods?'' is a book written by Erich von Däniken, talking about the hypothesis that the
technologies and religions of many ancient civilizations were given to them by ancient astronauts who were welcomed as gods. It's one of the many late-night-discussion topics that we were always interested in talking about.  You know, these conspiracy theories and all... Freaky cool stuff lol. Mat and Chris (previous bass player) came out with the name. You can also tie many of Mat's lyrical themes to that concept. At some point, when the band started, it was to be athematic for some kind of ''band concept'', but now its pretty much just a name with a cool background.

--

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage
performance?
Well, even though we've played amazing venues around the country, the hometown gigs are always special. There's something about that energy and that devotion of the fan base. You want to see people go ape-shit? Come to one of our hometown gig.

--

6. Do you have any touring plans for the future?
Of course! We're working on it as of now, but no spoilers yet heheh!

--

7. On a worldwide level how has the  feedback been to your music by extreme metal fans?
The response for this album (and even for the one before) is actually pretty good ! Since we're in the middle of
promoting it, there's still much to come, but so far, we couldn't be happier with the results. Its always kind of a blind guess, when you spend more than a year working with dedication on a project like this. You loose your objectivity towards the product, and you never know if you're doing things right or wrong. Having great feedback really adds to being proud of what we achieved.

--

8. Currently you are unsigned are you looking for a label and if so what kind of label do you feel that would be a
perfect fit for the music?
Of course, that's the ultimate dream! Any label that would treat us with respect and give us the opportunity to share our music with people the right way is a good label.

--

9. Are there any other musical projects besides this band or is this a full time line up?
Chariots' pretty much the only serious thing on which each of its members are workin' on, musically speaking. We each have our own other creative needs to fulfill; Renaud's a movie director as well as a photographer, Mat's an amazing comic book artist, Payam's (bass) a big concert guy, Rich (drums) is kind of an event planner / business type of dude As far as I'm concerned, I have my own solo acoustic stuff on which I've been working for almost 5 years, and I'm also a graphic designer. We're also big movie fans, all of us.

--

10. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
We try not to think too much about that, kinda letting things evolve by themself. This is what happened naturally
anyways, from our first EP to this album; things evolved by themself, and for the better. Of course, there's stuff that we'd like to try, but just letting it go is the best thing to do.

--

11. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to
nowadays?
Well again, considering that we all have our respective influences, I'd say that the essence of the band  is probably comparable to bands like In Flames, Trivium, Unearth, Children of Bodom...

--

12. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
Go back to question #9 haha!

--

13. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
EPIC AS FUCK!!

Terrortory Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

We’re about to finish the material for an upcoming recording that’ll most likely end up as a digital EP-release early 2013. We are also on the lookout for people to help us get our thumbs out of our asses and get out and play live! That about sums it up.

2. How would you describe the musical sound of the newer material?

You can definitely tell it’s Terrortory playing. We still stand on a base of melodic yet aggressive death metal and the development we’ve seen is more in the songwriting-departement than when it comes to the sound itself. That aside, we have two new band members that are likely to add their touch to the new material. Tommy (Nilsson, drums) is a real intense drummer and Emil (Ceder, guitar) has a keen ear for melodies and harmonies.

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

On the upcoming release, entitled “City of Ghosts”, we discuss de-populization, small town mentality and what that might bring, albeit in an extreme fashion. It’s based on real life observations taken a bit further, and it goes really well with the music. Johan is writing the lyrics in collaboration with our friend Martin Nygren who sang in SkellefteÃ¥ progressive metal band Kharma Cosmic back in the days.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?

Haha, isn’t it obvious? The bands name is a blunt pun sprung from our adolescent minds back when we started out in 2000-2001! It might seem a bit too blunt to some people, but they seem to remember it so we’re happy with it!

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

When it comes to live performances I’d say we’re actually in a growing phase right now. We’ve always been a good live band, if you ask me, but every show we’ve played since Tommy and Emil joined the band has been better than the prior. As stated earlier, Tommy is an intense drummer and it’s been quite contagious..!

6. Do you have any touring plans for the future?

We’ve come to realize that we aren’t able to pull any touring off by ourselves; since we have day jobs we just don’t have the time and energy required to plan and book a tour. Hopefully we’ll find someone who believes in us and can help get our asses in a tour bus, but finding the right person or organization requires time and effort as well. We’ll just have to wait and see, but we really hope to get on the roads as soon as possible.

7. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of melodic death metal?

Overall it’s been good! We seem to attract an audience about our own age, and since we consider ourselves cranky old idlers we think our fans are to! But the last couple of months our fanbase has become a whole lot more international than before and I don’t really see it stopping.

8. What is going on with the other musical projects these days?

Johan is involved in a dirty old rock band called Starship Monolit that’s in a rebuild phase at the moment, involving some band member changes and songwriting.
Tommy is recording a country album with his other band The Grand 95 and enjoying his own drum work on DrÃ¥psnatts latest album “Skelepht”, released a while back.
Stefan is sitting at home recording diabolic music and hones his skills playing in a cover band.
Emil is writing and pre-producing an upcoming recording with his other band Sentient (power/prog/heavy metal-ish).
Olov is truly dedicated though, he’s all Terrortory!

9. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

I have no idea. Right now we’re focused on “City of Ghosts”, but beyond that Emil will probably have a bigger part to play when it comes to songwriting. It’s really hard to predict - we’ll do what turns out awesome I guess!

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Everyone has a fairly unique record collection, and I think the only common denominators are Opeth and possibly At the Gates. But noone gets cranky listening to bands like Scar Symmetry, Gojira, Dark Tranquillity or Dimmu Borgir.

11. Outside of music what are some of your interests?

Emil is really in to getting hurt, breaking bones and getting bit by snakes and stuff like that. There’s always something with him. Olov is up for anything with the word “Zombie” in it. But we all love video games. Emil has a collection of over 100 NES-games!

12. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview/

Thanks for the attention! Keep your eyes peeled early 2013 for our EP “City of Ghosts” and if anyone want to help us get on the road - get in touch! Check out or website at www.terrortory.com for more updates!

Unburied Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

Matt Pike- UNBURIED have a full length coming out on Self Made God Records this month, called Murder 101. This will be the bands second full-length cd release to date.We also have a split 7 inc record do out very soon as well, with the band Nun Slaughter! This record will be released by Doomentia Records and will be avilible on Picture disc as well as red vinyl and black records. I am also wrting more songs for a new release to come out next year. Writing music and recording is the main focus of the band at this point in time.

2. How would you describe the musical sound of the new album and how it differs from previous releases?
The Murder 101, album is darker then Slut Decapitator. The lyrics are for the most part more real violence then flat out gore, yet the gore is still very much present. I think I just got more of a true crimes writing style with these lryics opposed to the past was more of a chainsaw massacre feel, so to speak. Although, I guess this album is like a progression of Slut Decapitator. I also branched away a little bit from the whole killing theme a bit within the album to draw out the evils in mankind. To focaus a little on the system in which we live in, as being just as bad if not worse then the bad seeds it births. In a nut shell, still play death/grind music. With each release is just a different branching out of ideas and styles that tie into one. The production, the amps used have a big play on the overall feel. This record sounds tighter and darker then the past records. This is the first recording I did with a different half stack. I think the guitar sounds tighter as do the drums as we recorded them seperately this time around. The music overall has improved over the years as did this production. Yet, we still have the loose cannon sound that is wild and aggressive.

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
Murder, serial killers, whores, true crime, fictional crimes. Anger with the system in which we live. People being cought up things that are not true, wrongful juyrements. The new song "Solace" that will be on the split 7 inc record with Nun Slaughter is a big change in lryics. It is about forgeting all the bad things and focusing on possistive aspects in life as well as hobbies that you enjoy. Its a brutal tune. I assure you! The lyric's have more of a hardcore back bone in content, yet they are still the same sounding gutteral hatefilled voice for the most part.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the bands name?
Unburied has more then one meaning to me. To dig up dead bodies comes to mind first. To be heard. To find truth and uncover the lies. To let loose the anger.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?
I think the best show sound wise was probaly a show we played at a now defunct record store outside of D.C. On stage we play with much aggression and rage. It takes alot out of me to do live shows as I put much feeling into them. The sound is brutal and crazy. We have a wild death grind attitude toward are live shows. I would say the best shows are when I played sober. I can remember them better and I play tighter. Yet, when I use to drink I use to through punches at people and sometime punch myself and yell at people taunt the sound man ect... We play with alot of energy. We would have been a good band to play with G.G. Allin and the Murder Junkies and AntiSeen.  Thats the type of vibe at an UNBURIED show! I think thier is alot of punk attitude in me and in my life style and that carries over into my death grind music with UNBURIED!

6. Do you have any touring plans for the future?
No.

7. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your new album by fans of death metal and grindcore?
With Slut Decapitator the response was great! As for Murder 101.  I have seen only positive feedback and the cds have not even been released to me yet. The cd just came out digital for zines ect... so we shall see!

8. What is going on with the other musical projects these days?
Mark has his solo project called FETID ZOMBIE that he is always writting new stuff for. Brian has been doing session drums and recordng many projects. I do mainly UNBURIED. However, I just recorded a demo for my side project band called DRUID SCUM. We play Crust Punk /Grind music.. We have three of our own tunes recorded and a cover song by the band DOOM! We just have to put the vocal tracks down and we will put a demo out. there!

9. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
I aim to explore more in the future. Only time will tell exactly what that will mean.

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
As for influence's that gear toward UNBURIED, I would say Grave, old Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, Repulsion where huge right from the start and still to this day inspire me. I also like Judas Iscarot, Dark Throne and Mayhem. I listen to alot of different music. Some bands outside of this style are Black Flag, Doom, Extreme Noise Terror, Next Step Up, Charles Manson, Johnny Cash, The Twats, The Hidden Hand.

11. Outside of music what are some of your interests?
I love riding my motor cycle. I have a Harley Davidson. I am very much into Harley Davidson motorcycles and classic american cars as well as hot rods and rat rod culture. I am interested in car clubs and biker gangs. I am also a big true crimes reader and I enjoy watching the tv show gangland and a good movie here and there. Oh, I enjoy going to the gym. I have been a member of Golds for four years.

12. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
Thanks for the Interview and interest in UNBURIED, now buy our cds!!!!!!

Vocals range  from  hardcore  style  shouts, thrash  style  vocals,  deep  death  metal  growls  and  high  pitched  screams,  while t he  lyrics  cover  war,  mythology,  scientific  and  philosophical themes,  as  for the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  for  being  a  self  released  recording  and  you  can  hear  all  of t he musical  instruments  that  are  present  on this  recording.

In  my  opinion  Chariots  Of  The  Gods  are  a  very  great  sounding  hybrid  of  thrash,  deathcore  and  melodic  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of t his  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Seventh  Weapon"  "Severing  The  Bloodline"  "nebula" and  "Unbound".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
