Fallen Fate/Into The Black/2014 CD Review

Fallen  Fate  are  a  band  from  England  that  mixes  both  modern   thrash  metal   with  melodic  death  metal  together  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released 2014  album  "Into  The  Black".

The  album  starts  off  with  an  intro  that  utilizes  some  synths  and  whispers  and  it  brings  a  very  haunting  and  evil  introduction  to  the  album  as  well  as  adding  in  drums  to  create  an  almost  symphonic  sound  as  well  as  some  heavy  guitars  and  screams  which  sets  the  perfect  beginning  for  the  album.

Once  the  album  goes  into  actual  songs  heavy  and  melodic  guitars  as  well  as  death  metal  screams  start  to  kick  in  along  with  some  blast  beats  that  do  not really  go  into  brutal  mode,  and  as  the  album  progresses  modern  thrash  elements  are  thrown  into  the  music  and  the  lead  guitars  have  a  traditional  metal  feeling  to  them  along  with  some  Swedish  melodic  death  metal  influences.

As  the  album  progresses  spoken  word  parts  are  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  music  along  with  some  growls  that  strengthen's  the  full  on  melodic  death  metal  direction  this  recording  invokes,  and  after  awhile  the  synths  start  adding  in  more  tragic  and  symphonic  elements  as  well  as  bringing  an  epic  sound  to  the  recording.

One  of  the  things  that  is  misleading  about  this  band  and  album  is  the  fact  it  is  labelled  thrash,  while  I  feel  it  is  closer  to  melodic  death  metal  and  the  thrash  elements  that  are  utilized  on  this  recording  are  in  a  more  modern  death  metal  and  halfway  through  the  album  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  clean  singing  being  brought  in  for  a  few  seconds  on  a  couple  of  the  songs.

When  the  album  gets  more  towards  the end  there  is  a  short  intro  before  the  last  song  that  uses  acoustic  guitars  that  utilize  finger  picking  along  with  some  melodic  female  vocals  before  going  full  force  into  the  last  song.

Song  lyrics  cover  dark  themes  and  the  recording  is  a  concept  album,  while  the  production  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  for  being  a  self  released  recording  along  with  the  bass  guitars  being  mixed  down  low  in  the  mix  as  well  as  some  of  the  songs  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  Fallen  Fate  are  a  very  great  sounding  melodic  death  metal  band  with  elements  of  modern  thrash  as  well  as  adding  decent  music  to  a  genre  that  is  stagnating  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Blackened  Within"  "I  Welcome  the  Dead"  and  "Vespa".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.

Outrage Interview

1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

After our release date on the 29. of November we had a great release show,

and  more are announced for the next few weeks.

Now we are looking for club & festival shows 2014.

With the new Album Brutal Human Bastard and new merch stuff we are ready
for 2014.

2.How would you describe the musical sound of the new album and also how
does it differ from previous releases?

Since our founding in 2000 we play groovy old school death metal with
influences from florida death metal style of the 90`s,

as well as on Brutal Human Bastard.

The difference to the previous releases is definitely more Diversity, we
have a lot of various elements in the songs.

We mixed rock, melodic and sometimes thrash elements with our traditional
death metal, and I tried to change the vocals as

well. But the groove is appreciable in every song, this is our trade mark.

We are not the fastest and hardest band on earth, we want the crowd to
bang their heads.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the new release explores?

The human being is a brutal bastard, take a look at the news, every day
you hear about more disasters and abomination around the world.

This is enough stuff for our lyrics.

We sing about the drug war in mexico, about the revolt in Syria or the
cannibal from Rotenburg,  and all those things are real!

But not every song is so serious, we also sing about touring, drinking
and hurting necks after show, haha.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name Outrage?

Outrage is standing for all the bad things which happen in the world
every day,

there is no day without an OUTRAGE.

So we thought thats a good name for us.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the
years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

We played a lot of fantastic shows in the last 13 years but two of them
were amazing.

We were co headliner for our idols Obituary in Vienna. The crowd was
fantastic and we got the chance to talk with Obituary after the show,

these guys are really cool.

The second show I remember was the Metalchamp Final at Metalcamp in
tolmin/slovenja.

There were about 1000 people at the second stage and the atmosphere was
inimitable.

Our performance is very aggressive with a lot of energy and a powerful
sound. We always want to see the crowd banging

and usually we are successful.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans for the new album?

We have a few release Shows in the next weeks,

and we are looking for more festival and club shows, we are working on it.

It is very difficult to get a tour but maybe  we will see

7.The new album had a cover of a Nirvana cover, what was the decision

behind doing your own version of one of their songs/

We started listen to music in the 90s and Nirvana was one of
the first  hard bands we listened to. We grew up with them and so
we decided to cover negative creep.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your newer music by
fans of death metal?

We got a lot of positive feedback from our fans and they know that we
are not very fast, technical or brutalâŠbut they like what they hear.

Outrage dont try to create something new and we don t jump on new
trends.we are what we are.

9.What is going on with the other musical projects these days?

Our basser Evil Ed has a side project called Proll Guns, they play
western thrash metal.

They have a really great stage performance, with saloon girls and a lot
of whisky, haha .

Sometimes I work as a Dj at metal partys, but we try to focus completely
on OUTRAGE.

10.What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

In 2014 we want to promote âbrutal human bastardâ as good as we can,

and our plan is to enter the studio in 2015 again.

11.What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your newer
music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Every member of outrage listens to different bands. Influences for me
definitly were Asphyx and Hail of Bullets.

Currently I listen to Dying Fetus, Behemoth, Belphegor, Grave,
Solstafir, Ghost Brigade and much much moreâŠ

12.Outside of music what are some of your interests?

Our guitarist manuel loves old motorcycles,

our drummer and I like soccer, not to play only to watch ;-)

and of course we like Parties ;-)

13.Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Thank you for the interview and thanks to all our fans and promoters out
there for your support

in the last 13 years.

Listen to BRUTAL HUMAN BASTARD and bang your head.the future is an
OUTRAGE!!
