Encrypted are a band from Puerto Rico that plays a very brutal form of slam death metal and this is a review of their 2001 ep "Drifting To the Impaled" which was re-issued in 2015 by Lord Of The Sick Recordings.
Movie samples start off the ep and after a minute the music goes into a faster musical direction along with some blast beats and high pitched screams while the riffs also bring in a small amount of melody and after awhile death metal growls and elements of slam make their presence known on the recording.
Throughout the recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads give the music more of a melodic edge and the music is more heavily rooted in the early to mid 90's east coast style of death metal and they also bring in samples on some of the songs and one of the later tracks also brings in a brief use of clean playing before returning back to a heavier direction and they also bring in an instrumental before closing with a vocal track and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this ep.
Encrypted played a style of death metal on this recording that was in between the slam and old school styles of the genre while also being very brutal for its era, the production has a very raw yet heavy sound while the lyrics cover violence, anti religion and hatred themes.
In my opinion Encrypted are a very great sounding brutal slam death metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Drifting To The Impaled" and "Sin my Soul". 8 out of 10.
