Haemorrhage Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?
We just were playing live some shows and making all the things that we must do when an álbum is about to be released, you know, pics, videos, interviews, etc...

2.You have a new album coming out in October, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?
The sound is slightly different this time. We recorded in a great studio (Mpire) probably the best we ever had and the mastering by Brad Boatright was great too. The songwriting and the style of the band didn't change too much just the influence of our new drummer Erik, thats allowed us to do things we'd never did before.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?
This album lyrics are all about the people that works everyday in disgusting jobs, handling cadavers, operating sick people, etc...There's a lot of people working hard to avoid we see the death, suffering or sickness as they really are. So, the funny thing is many people thinks "Gore" is serial killers, psychopaths etc, but for us the real gore are all these workers.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Haemorrhage'?
Haemorrhage is just a medical word. It's when the blood runs out of veins or vessels. We got this name for our band a lot of years ago cause it was related with blood and cause we liked only the band names with only one Word, like Death, Autopsy, Carcass, etc...now many bands use long names like "Bring me the Horizon", "Bullet for my Valentine" or "I went to the supermarket and bought 100 beers" we don't like that...hahaha.

5.The band has been around since the early 90's, what is it that motivates to keeping going after almost 3 decades?
We love what we do. We love music. And also we feel the love of our fans, even if we are not Iron Maiden we have die hard fans that support us.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
We played in the most of worlds best festivals: Obscene Extreme, MDF, NDF, Party.San, Brutal Assault, With Full Force, etc...I remember the show at WFF 2002 for example. We usually played for 500 people max, and we got on the stage and there were 80000 people there. We almost shit in our pants. We usually perform with blood and surgical clothes.

7.Do you have any touring or show plans once the new album is released?
No, we wont do a proper tour, playing every night cause we don't like that, but we are already booked for some of the best festivals in Europe and surely we would be in US again.

8.Over the years you have been a part of a great amount of splits, can you tell us a little bit more about the bands you have shared these recording with?
Yes, with good bands as Impaled, Exhumed, Dead Infection, Dead, Nunslaugther, Gutalax, Rompeprop, etc...

9.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of gore/grind?
Incredible. We met diehard fans in Europe, US, Canada, Mexico, Russia, Japan, everywhere...we met many people with our logo or our artworks tattooed on their skin...even one guy tattooed our faces! hahaha...we usually find many fans dressed in surgical clothes at our gigs. We know personally many fans that are supporting us since we started. That's the best thing for me.

10.Are any of the band members currently involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?
Yes, I know our drummer Erik is playing with other bands, Ana and me have 2 bands: Steelforce (heavy Metal) with ex-Carcass guitarist, Carlo Regadas,   and Depopulation Department (Punk/Crust)...Ana is also recording covers for her solo Project. You can find this on YouTube.

11.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
Thats something we never thought about. Really. We just think in the next gig or the next song.

12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
The most of the bands I listen now are the same bands than 20 years ago.

13.What are some of your non musical interests?
I love football (soccer). Playing and watching.

14.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
Thanks a lot, you are the gore!!

Inverted Serenity Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?

We finished the new album just in time to head out on tour in late June. We went to the east coast and back with our black metal buddies in Cell (another Winnipeg band worth checking out!). For us, the eastern half of the country was uncharted territory so it was fun to go out there and show our music to people who’ve never heard of us. Hopefully the next time we go there a few people will have heard of us now that we’ll have new music available online, same goes for the west!

2.You have a new album coming out in October, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

The songs on this album are definitely more mature than anything we’ve put out before. We’ve all become better musicians and song writers and that comes through in the music. It is difficult to narrow down our sound since we don’t limit ourselves to a genre, nor do we have one formula for writing songs. We put ideas in a blender and whatever comes out is our music.

3.Your lyrics cover a lot of metaphysical, geometric,  scientific, philosophical and gnosticism themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in these topics?

On the previous albums our drummer, Ben Deveau, wrote the bulk of the lyrics and he explored a lot of those metaphysical themes. On the new album, we shared the lyric duties more so the lyrical topics became more diverse and, generally speaking, the lyrics are less abstract and more direct. The album is definitely not a concept album and every song touches on something different. This made it difficult to find an appropriate title for it. But if there’s a consistent theme over the course of the album it’s that when dark or negative topics are dealt with in the lyrics, there’s usually a positive or hopeful outcome that is either explored in the lyrics or that occurred in our lives following the bad things discussed in the songs. So you could say this album is a hopeful one because we talk about the possibility negative things eventually withering away, hence the title: ‘As Spectres Wither’

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Inverted Serenity'?

There’s a Meshuggah lyric in the I EP that inspired the band name. The lyric is: ‘‘Inverted miracles’’. It inspired our founding members, Ben and Tom, to play around with words and they came up with Inverted Serenity in computer class in middle school. The name stuck ever since.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

We recently did a local CD release show (in Winnipeg) and that was definitely one of our favourite shows based on the energy in the room from the crowd’s enthusiasm. Our previous CD release was also had a similar vibe. We’ve also been fortunate enough to open for many touring acts that we look up to. We’ve had the chance to play in front of a few hundred people on a couple occasions and that’s always a blast because you feed off the crowd’s energy. Our stage performance is pretty straight forward. We don’t use gimmicks or stage props (unless it’s a Halloween show or something along those lines) but our show usually involves a lot of hair flying through the air.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans once the new album is released?

There are no formal plans for touring as of yet but we’ll start applying for Canadian metal festivals soon. We will be playing locally though. We have a show with Archspire in late September, and then we’ll play shows with some friends including Occvlt Hand’s LP release in October.

7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

It’s not something we are actively pursuing. We’re more focused on making music, playing shows and becoming better at what we’re doing. If the right offer came our way we would consider it.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of technical death metal?

There has been some positive feedback in the tech scene about the two singles we’ve released thus far. Hopefully we get more of that feedback once the album is out.

9.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?

Our bassist and singer, Tomas Ingham, plays in doom/dark rock band called Madeira. They will be putting together an album shortly. They’ve also talked about touring western Canada at some point. Our drummer’s band Moira are finishing up a follow up album after releasing an EP they put out late last year. They play a cool style of groove/death metal. One of our guitarists, Drew, also has a progressive death metal side project called Parasitism. They’ve been working on a debut album for a while and it’s nearing completion.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

We have some new material we’ll work on as a band pretty soon. So far it’s looking like we’ll do something conceptual like a long multi-part song. It’s hard to say what the end result will be like but it’s probably going to be pretty progressive.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

I think we all have common musical interests but each member listens to different stuff. Generally, we get inspiration from death metal and black metal. If we went through the album riff by riff we could maybe pinpoint specific a bands influence on a specific part but it would take for ever to list that here.

Here’s what we’ve been jamming lately and some of our votes for album of the year.

Ben:

-Recently: Dirsfiguring the Godess, AOTY: Gravebloom by The Acacia Strain

Tomas:

-Recently: Neumenorean, AOTY: Heartless by Pallbearer

Marco:

-Recently: Drab Majesty, AOTY: Futility Report by White Ward

Drew:

-Recently: The sounds of the wilderness…

12.What are some of your non musical interests?

Drew loves hunting; in fact he’s hunting right now so we can’t get a hold of him to figure out what he’s listened to recently. Ben skateboards a lot and is a part of the Scam Skate skate team. Marco and Tom don’t have anything going for them outside of music…

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

We don’t have much to say except a big ‘’thank you’’ for showing some interest in our band and our music! Cheers!

Blood Rainbow Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?

We started to work on the next album. In that long term of the band break, Florian (the songwriter of blood music) wrote Upheaval, the second part of Upheaval and a new full double album. It was fantastic when we heard demos of the full albums. Our first goal was when we met  in 2014 after years to try to complete Upheaval without strains. Then we agreed: If we can do it without any problem, we immediately continues this process and reorganize the band. And now we proudly have the cd and start recording the next Bloodrainbow stuff.

2.In November you had released a new album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

In principles it is a Bloodrainbow stuff. Neoclassical solos, bloodrainbow riffs, death metal vocal and blastbeat. But these album characteristic more melodical than the older, but in an other way. It is not melodeath or any other melodic extreme metal. Additionally, we tried to make an experiment with wind instuments trumphet, sax and flute. This is Bloodrainbow in 2017. For want off better, Bloodrainbow is a power death metal with neoclassical solos.

3.This is the first album to be released since 2005, can you tell us a little bit more about what has been going on during the time frame?

We were active 2002-2007. After smelteries album we had member changes and in 2007 our label Vic Records broke down and the owner told us he sold the rights of our album to an other label and suggested to try to speak with the new guys. Naturally it was fake. This conflict caused a huge lost of motivation and stopped the band for undefinable time. 3-4 years ago we met first and Flo showed me the new songs and we decided to try it to record and complete.

4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?

Upheaval is the history of humanity from the big boom through the evolution and the modern man activities, wars. There is a special theme the conquistadors in the last song. The artwork was inspired by that song.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name Blood Rainbow'?
Blood - Death metal
Rainbow - Varicolored (in blood dyes)
We tried to make coloured music below the flag of death metal.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
We had no special outfit or show elements, just the pure music! We've played a lot of show in our active period. We played with gods: Vital Remains, Vader, Dissection, Rotting Christ, Ensiferum, Suidakra, lots of shows in Hungary and abroad.

7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
Yes, but first we should reorganize the basics of the band and adapt ourself in this era. 10 years ago it was easy to go to a tour or somewhere to play, but nowadays everybody have family, children…etc. We will organize it while making new album.

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of death metal?
This music a bit strange for anybody who heard it first because they cant categorize it well. Naturally the old Bloodrainbow fans were so happy! We've got very good feedback new death metal fans as well.

9.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?
None, just Bloodrainbow.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
After we are going to record the next 3 album (have written in our break) everybody can see that it is not a music experiment or an experimental music, it is true Bloodrainbow on a next level.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
In the early years the common gods were: Cryptopsy, Vomitory, Vader, The Crown, Vital Remains, the old stuffs like Nocturnus and the solo heavy-power heroes from the 70s80s.
Nowadays, when death metal has separated to million subgenres and there are millions of bands its hard. We listen lots of music but the roots, influencers remain the same. We like the fresh stuffs from Benighted, Aeternam, Beyond Creation, Black Dahlia Murder, Mgla, Primordial etc. So It is various. Now there are so much good music… :)

12.What are some of your non musical interests?
Florian build original veteran motor sidecars.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
Upheaval!

Thanks in advance

Rothadamus
