Mors Subita Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording of the new album?

First of all, we went through a quite long process of finding a label for the upcoming album. After we shook hands with Inverse Records, we´ve been working hard on the release of the album, producing video material, organizing the upcoming shows etc.

All in all, it´s going great at the moment and we´re very excited about the new material and the fact that we get to hit the stages again.

2.You have a new album coming out in April, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

It´s more melodic than its predecessors for sure. I am constantly trying to find the perfect balance between beautiful melodies and aggressive riffs and I think this time it worked out better than ever before. The album as a whole is more solid which is probably due to the fact that the band as its current line up since 2014.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?

Mostly life in general; human fates, personal struggles etc. Our lyrics tend to lean towards the darker side of life but there´s also hope amongst all the suffering.

4.I know that the bands name means 'Sudden Death' in Latin, how does this name fit in with the musical style you play?

Very well I think. It hits you when you least expect it.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

After our previous album we got to play the biggest heavy metal stage in Finland in Tuska Open Air. I think that was one of the best experiences so far. We are very energetic on stage and we try to exchange that energy with the audience as much as possible.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans once the new album is released?

Yes, first we tour Finland in april and may and then in the end of may we head to Japan with Turisas, Beast In Black and a few other bands. Then it´s time for the summer festivals. We are releasing the finnish show dates soon.

7.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of melodic death and thrash metal?

Very good. Both previous albums had great reviews and the overall feedback has awesome. I hope we will continue on the same route with our new album.

8.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?

Wolfheart is preparing to record its 3rd album. Thyrane is playing some shows in Finland. Funeral for the Masses is working on new material. Eternal tears of Sorrow is on a hiatus for now.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

All killers no fillers.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Everyone in our band has their own go-to bands but I think that for many of us the 90´s melodeath sound has been a big influence. Nowadays we listen to all types of music. For me it varies from extreme deathmetal to fusion jazz.

11.What are some of your non musical interests?

Cars.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final word or thoughts?

If you want our band to continue making music, pre-order our album and come to our shows.
