Cadaver Putrefacto interview

CADAVER PUTREFACTO

1. For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
JUAN GOMEZ: Hello, first of all, thanks for your interest in the band and interviewing us. The band can be said to be new, we formed it with my friend Daniel Ledesma in 2000 but we only did some rehearsals and then it dissolved. In 2015 we came together with the idea of recording some music and joined Leonel Grismado in the voices, among the three we recorded the first demo of the band, after that Daniel left the band. As we already had material to capture an entire album, we decided to do it together with Leonel, just the two of us and see what the answer was. We upload it digitally in November 2017 and we were really surprised by the good reception that the record obtained. That's why we decided to put together a full lineup and be able to present the music that we recorded live.

2. So far you have released a demo, ep and a full length, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on those recordings?
LEONEL GRISMADO: The sound of Cadaver Putrefacto has not changed in the different recordings, it was only refined to improve the proposal. In the Demo it was material for diffusion only so it might have been a little more rustic. And we also had another guitarist. The next EP, is with another guitarist, and served as a preview of what would be our first CD. As for the musical, the sound will always be the same: Death Metal.

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
L.G .: As far as the lyrical aspect of the band is concerned, we may follow the trend of brutal death metal and its scabrous and bloody cliches. Although what differentiates us from the rest is that we really try to offer well-written lyrics with a little more content. The pain and horror that one human being can commit over another is a great source of inspiration for our brutal lyrics. Whether it is murder, jealousy, revenge, sadism, etc... the low and perverse of the human mind seems to have no limits. And we also have more fantastic lyrics of course, product only of our imagination. On the other hand other lyrics can deal with horror movies to which we are very affectionate in the band.

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Cadaver Putrefacto'?
L.G .: There is no message or hidden meaning. Cadaver Putrefacto is a brutal name for a brutal band.

5. What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

6. Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
L.G .: Regarding live shows none since recently at this time we are strengthening the lineup to present the album live. In a short period of time we will give our shows debut and we will see how the balance is.
J.G.: As previously said, the band is just now training to play live, we are currently Leonel on vocals, me on the bass, Pablo Giangreco on drums, and in the guitar recently joined Clovis Avile Torrilla, if all goes well we are going to begin to join some dates to start presenting our material, always in the scene Under Argentina, with respect to tours I see it very difficult because in our country playing this style of music is more a hobby than a profession, we all have our jobs and families and it is difficult to absent oneself for a long time from responsibilities.

7. The new album is getting in released through 'Brutal Records', how did you get in contact with this label?
J.G .: Actually the label contacted us. As I told you the album we did it digitally and we put it on different platforms, nowadays this way of spreading the music reaches many places and sometimes it brings good results. That's how the owner of the label Michael Howard heard us and he was interested in the band. We had some very pleasant talks listening to his proposal and we decided that it was a very good option to edit our album in physical format since it is a label that will distribute it in North America and Europe. We are really happy that they are interested in editing an Argentine band and that they are expressing themselves in Spanish.

8. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of brutal and old school death metal?
J.G.: The truth is that the comments that come to us are very positive, to the page we get many messages from people from different parts congratulating us and asking how to get the album, and now that it will be professionally edited by the label Brutal Records will be able to get it anywhere on the planet. In the video of the Full Album uploaded to YouTube there are many comments from people who encourage us and that fills us with pride. We decided to make a Death Metal style of the old school that today many bands do not make (the current fashion is Slam), and less sung in Spanish. I think that also made call the attention on the record.

9. Are any of the band members currently involved with any other bands or musical projects these days?
L.G .: With respect to Pablo (the drummer) he has his own band of all life called STILLZONE which makes a crossover in the style of DRI or RATOS DE PORAO. Besides, he also plays with me in another death metal band called DISLEPSIA. The newly incorporated guitarist Clovis also has his own brutal project called REVENTOR and I play in: RIGOR MORTIS, TROPA NOISE AND DISLEPSIA.

10. Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
L.G .: Where the future directs us is a mystery. Although I assure you that he found us playing pure and extreme death metal. Nothing to modify or soften the style that is certain. Hopefully we can perfect everything and give us the opportunity to show our music wherever possible. And keep recording material of course.

11. What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
L.G .: What most influences the band is of course the classic death metal of bands like: Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, Deicide, Malevolent Creation, Six Feet Under, etc ... nothing of modern crap. Now at the time of personal tastes we all agree on the band in which we are very open to all kinds of metal, heavy, thrash, death, black, grindcore, crossover, etc ... you would be surprised by certain musical tastes we have. But that is never going to make the direction of the band get out of the way of death metal.

12. What are some of your non musical interests?
L.G .: For my part, in addition to music, my other hobby is the viewing of horror movies and the reading of horror literature (Lovecraft, Poe, King, Hutson, etc).
J.G .: I have two passions, music and soccer. I'm a fan of Argentinos Juniors (the team where Maradona was born), it's a humble team from Argentina but it has a beautiful history and from which emerged many players who triumphed in the world.

13. Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
L.G .: First of all thank for the interview and the interest in the band. We are relatively new and the diffusion and interest that people show us is very helpful. And tell them that we are not going to stop this death metal machine called CADAVER PUTREFACTO. That's safe. Death metal is not fashion, it's passion. We hope to continue to count on your support. Thanks and see you soon.
